We are looking to hire a full-time custodian located primarly at our 1725 Sargent Avenue facility with some time spent at 324 Lizzie Street manufacturing plant.

**OVERVIEW OF POSITION**

The custodian will perform general, routine custodial maintenance duties, including dusting, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, and restocking paper and soap supplies. They would also be responsible for routine maintenance to custodial equipment and supplies.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Primary duties**
- Perform general routine custodial duties, including dusting, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms and restocking paper and soap supplies.
- Empty and clean all garbage containers.
- Check and do spot cleaning in offices.
- Relace light bulbs throughout the building as needed.
- Work with Procurement to order any cleaning and disinfecting supplies as required.
- Perform cleaning functions specific to the assigned facilities and/or based on seasonal/project requirements such as:

- Maintaining grass and yard in summer
- Snow removal at all entrances in winter
- Paint designated areas of building as required.
- Any minor repairs as requested by the Manager.
- Check the first aid kit once a month to determine if replenishment is required.
- Wash exterior and interior windows (each spring and fall)

**Additional Responsibilities**
- Notify Manager of the need for major repairs around the building
- Report the presence of animals, vermin or insects.
- Report on any health and safety concerns/hazards.
- Report water leaks, and other maintenance needs.
- Reports any signs of vandalism or abuse of facility.
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES**
- Previous experience working as a custodian, janitor or similar role.
- Knowledge of use and maintenance of cleaning equipment and appliances.
- Ability to handle light facility repairs.
- Aware of safety procedures.
- Ability to carry out tasks in a timely fashion with mínimal supervision.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Attention to detail and conscientiousness in providing thorough cleaning services.

***CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT**
- A valid driver’s and access to a vehicle is preferrable.
- Clear criminal record check.

**WORKING CONDITIONS**
- Stationed primarily at the Head office location (1725 Sargent Avenue) four (4) days a week with one (1) day at our manufacturing facility (324 Lizzie Street)
- Requires some heavy physical work, lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects up to 50 lbs. at times.
- Requires standing for long periods of time.
- Work in an environment with exposure to hazards or physical risks which require the following of basic safety precautions.
- Work will involve exposure to some extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, unpleasant odors, and loud noises.
