**JOB DESCRIPTION - Junior Maintenance Technician**

**SUMMARY**

The Junior Maintenance Technician is responsible for proactively maintaining the operation of machinery and mechanical equipment through preventive/predictive maintenance and ensuring the plant facility is in safe working order. This role is ideal for someone willing to work as an apprentice initially with the career path towards becoming a certified maintenance technician or supervisor. The position has dual reporting directly to the maintenance team (direct supervisor is the Maintenance Technician and designate supervisor is the Production Maintenance Technician) and reports indirectly to the Director of Operations.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Follow predictive and preventative maintenance schedules production machines and equipment and maintain records for future reference.
- Review and close work order requests and respond to emergency maintenance requests in a timely manner.
- Monitor, operate and/or troubleshoot all plant infrastructure; read blueprints and schematic drawings.
- Service, maintain, repair, install and test both new and existing equipment.
- Complete inspection of machinery, facility, and equipment on a daily/weekly/monthly basis to detect malfunctions and irregularities, or other safety concerns, and notify the immediate manager or person in charge.
- Maintain a safe working environment and lock out/tag out machinery/equipment as required.
- Changeover of production machinery when required and ensure quality standards are maintained.
- Perform any other relevant tasks to help in any other area in production.
- Occasional emergency direction, activity and cross coordination with cleaning staff as necessary
- Perform other tasks as required.

**EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE**
- Currently enrolled or completed a program, diploma or certificate in a maintenance technician, or facilities technician program in an accredited educational institution. Proof of completion of credentials may be requested upon confirmation of the offer of employment.
- Related completed education as an engineering technician, electronics diploma or certificate or other relevant field along with 1-2 years maintenance experience in an EMS work setting will be considered equivalent to completion of a maintenance technician diploma.
- Must demonstrate knowledge of all maintenance related rules and regulations as outlined in the OHSA.
- Experience and/or knowledge with IPC Standards and ISO 9002 is an asset however not mandatory.
- Able to read and understand operating / production instructions and safety regulations.
- Troubleshooting skills and general knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Familiar with IPC standards and related experience in a maintenance role in a similar industry an asset.
- Knowledge of quality systems and ESD control is an asset.

**POSITION LOCATION AND HOURS OF WORK**
- Theposition location is based in Markham, Ontario in both Building A and B.
- Training and Orientation Period (1-3 months may be extended) Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm the Regular Schedule Monday to Friday 3:30 pm to 12 am; may be required to work flexible hours or scheduling, including emergency call-ins outside regular shift hours and on weekends.

**WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS**
- Demonstrated ability to work in uncomfortable unpredictable climates and work settings (dust, noise, temperature changes, etc.)
- Ability to comfortably lift 50lbs.
- Ability to lift or move awkward sized objects or parts.

**Job Type**: Temporary
Contract length: 12 months

**Education**:

- AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (preferred)

**Experience**:

- IPC standards: 1 year (preferred)
- maintenance role in a similar industry: 2 years (preferred)
- OHSA related to maintenance: 2 years (preferred)

**Language**:

- English (preferred)
