Dance Instructor

**Job description**

Ottawa Dance Centre Schools is hiring for multiple positions in their 2023/2024 faculty. ODCS is located in downtown Ottawa at De La Salle High School.

We are looking for teachers of both Classical Ballet and Jazz technique.

Qualifications:

- Extensive experience in dance, with a strong background in ballet or jazz - A minimum of 3 years of previous teaching experience
- Ballet teachers must be Royal Academy of Dance registered teachers or be members of another ballet examination board and/or have danced professionally
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and teaching techniques
- Ability to work well with children of all ages
- Strong organisational skills to effectively plan lessons and manage class schedules
- Patience, creativity, and enthusiasm for teaching dance to students of all skill levels

**Responsibilities**:

- Plan and conduct dance classes for students of various ages and skill levels
- Create choreography and routines for performances and recitals
- Provide constructive feedback and guidance to students to help them improve their technique and performance skills
- Develop age-appropriate lesson plans that promote physical fitness, creativity, and self-expression
- Ensure a safe and supportive learning environment for all students
- Manage classroom behaviour and maintain discipline during classes
- Collaborate with other instructors and staff members to coordinate performances and events

- Secondary School (preferred)

**Experience**:

- teaching: 3 years (preferred)
