Reporting to the Group Manager, Program Management (Cancer Screening Operations), the Analyst, Operational Reporting will be responsible for supporting the data analysis and production of reports/dashboards to inform the day-to-day operations of the Cancer Screening Programs and informed decision-making for the management team.
The Analyst, Operational Reporting will provide a tactical and detailed view of the Cancer Screening Operations (i.e., data analysis, visualization and interpretation) with key daily aspects/outputs and immediate necessities, highlighting key areas of need or concern that are immediately actionable. Additionally, the Analyst, Operational Reporting will deliver business insights and trends for business decision-making (e.g., opportunities for operational efficiencies).
The Product Management Cancer Services (PMCS) team administers the assets used for data collection and storage and provides access to the data required by the Analyst, Operational Reporting (e.g., system queries and/or extracts) for the analysis, automation and visualization in MS Access, SAS, Excel, Power BI and other tools.
Here is what you will be doing:
- Develop, manage and maintain MS Access databases, including database design, user access controls, user interfaces, queries, macros, integration with external data sources, database administration, backup and restore;- Maintain all data with Personal Health Information (PHI) in a secure manner per provincial and OH’s legislation, policies, procedures and best practices/standards;- Ensure robust risk management environment with respect to the protection of PHI, and develop and implement risk and issues identification and mitigation strategies;- Design, develop, and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs), operational reports and dashboards, representing data visually and identifying data anomalies, trends and outliers, and recommend targets;- Gather and document business requirements in support of developing reporting solutions to address business needs and translate information into technical requirements for development;- Plan and facilitate meetings and working sessions for requirements gathering, validation and acceptance of reports;- Identify, communicate and recommend improvements for data or process flaws or limitations in data sources or analysis;- Prepare, deliver, and present reports/results/findings from a technical and business perspective;-
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation and standard operating procedures for databases and reports, including data sources, methodologies, activities, frequency, audience, etc.;- Keep abreast of Cancer Screening’s data sources (e.g., databases and systems), updates and upgrades, representing the needs of Operations when updates or new developments take place.- Identify improvement opportunities and enhance existing Program Management’s databases, reports and processes;- Evaluate and recommend to the Program Management team new technologies, tools and leading practices when applicable;- Proactively share knowledge across project teams, as appropriate;- Perform cross-functional and/or other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned or requested.
Here is what you will need to be successful:
**Education**:
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in a computer-related field or equivalent work experience, required;
Knowledge/Experience:
- Minimum 4 years of related working experience;- Proficiency in MS Access and Excel, required;- Read and write VBA, SQL and SAS, required;- Proficiency in SAS Viya and/or Power BI, an asset.
Skills/Abilities:
- Advanced computer skills and knowledge of the entire MS Office suite;- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in analytical and reporting tools;- Demonstrated proficiency in database design, information management, database integration, data security, and system optimization;- Ability to extract data from various relational databases and other technology systems;- Experience creating and manipulating interactive digital dashboards from multiple data sources;- Excellent knowledge of electronic information systems, information privacy and security;- Excellent interpersonal and communications (verbal, written, presentation) skills;- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, adjusting to issues as needed in a dynamic work environment.- Superior ability to analyze and define problems, evaluate alternatives, find solutions and make recommendations;- Detail-oriented with strong critical thinking;- Strong analytical skills with creative/innovative thinking.
Physical Demands- Work involves mínimal physical effort normally associated with a corporate office environment.- Most work is completed at a desk or conference table- Long periods of sitting and regular computer/phone use- Has freedom to move about or change position at will
