The Catholic Centre for immigrants (CCI) has been serving refugees and immigrants for 65 years. We provide programs and services to approximately 4,500 newcomers every year. The mission is to help all newcomers realize their full potential in Canada and to build a more welcoming community. **Job Summary**
Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Employment Counsellor & Facilitator provides pre-employment information, guidance and support to internationally trained individuals. Services are delivered on a one-on-one basis and through group facilitation. The Employment Counsellor & Facilitator collaborates with a variety of functional teams related to pre-employment, intake, assessment and referral, language services, and job placements. This CCI employee works out of the World Skills Employment Centre office and operates as a member of the Job Search Workshop team, coordinated by World Skills.

**Responsibilities**
- Conduct individual intake and needs assessment meetings with clients
- Provide employment counselling and career development services to internationally trained professionals looking to obtain employment commensurate to their skills and education
- Support clients in their job search by providing advice and expertise on resume writing, interview preparation, networking skills (online and in person), career exploration, labour market information, and other employment-focused activities
- Follow-up on client progress through consistent and regular communication
- Facilitate job search workshops
- Contribute to development of workshops based on feedback from clients and own experience
- Link newcomer clients to appropriate services throughout World Skills and the broader community using a case management approach
- Collaborate with the recruitment team to refer job ready clients to employer engagement activities and job matching opportunities
- Update and maintain centralized profile tracking system, electronic database, and hard copy files
- Prepare client testimonials and other data for reports and publications as requested
- Work closely with World Skills and CCI teams and other partner agencies to ensure service excellence and appropriate client referrals
- Participate in staff and team meetings and in outreach activities as required
- Actively contribute to the efficient functioning of the organization

**Qualifications (Education/Experience)**
- Proficiency in English is **required**. Fluency in French is highly desirable.
- Post-secondary education in Human/Social Services, Education, Human Resources, Psychology or a related field
- 2-5 years of experience in employment and career services, human resources or recruitment or a combination of training, education, and experience.
- Experience providing employment-related services to internationally trained professionals or individuals experiencing career changes
- Experience with individual employment/career counselling
- Previous experience in adult education and adult learning principles is an asset
- Experience facilitating groups, both in person and in virtual settings
- Knowledge of immigration and labour market trends
- Understanding of issues experienced by the immigrant community
- Strong presentation, writing and verbal communication skills
- Must possess conflict resolution and intercultural communication skills, diplomacy, maturity and integrity
- Ability to work collaboratively as a team
- Experience in effectively running programs in a virtual environment, including creatively interfacing with digital platforms and utilizing digital tools to engage participants in meaningful experiences is an asset
