**Overview**:
**Responsibilities**:
- Plan and lead engaging and effective exercise classes for older adults, incorporating strength training, low-impact cardio, balance exercises, and flexibility training.
- Maintain a positive and supportive atmosphere during classes, encouraging participants and fostering a sense of community.
- Demonstrate proper exercise form and technique, and provide modifications as needed to ensure the safety and comfort of all participants.
- Adapt class content and intensity levels to accommodate participants of varying fitness levels and abilities.
- Ensure all equipment is set up properly and safely before each class.
- Set up & lead a hybrid class that is effective for both online and in-person participants.
- Maintain current knowledge of industry trends, best practices, and safety guidelines related to older adult fitness.
- Stay up-to-date with CPR and first aid certification and maintain a certification in a fitness-related field.
**Qualifications**:
- Certification in a fitness-related field (e.g. NASM, ACSM, CanFitPro, etc.) or a Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology or another fitness-related field.
- CPR and first aid certification.
- Dance instruction or Zumba experience is preferred to teach the Dance Fit program.
- Experience leading group exercise classes, particularly with older adults.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate and inspire participants.
- Knowledge of exercise modifications and adaptations for older adults with varying abilities and limitations.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal.
- Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize tasks.
- Able to teach classes in a hybrid format, both in-person and online. Access to a personal laptop or device required.
- Understanding of the importance of safety and risk management in group exercise settings.
**Schedule and Compensation**:
- Classes will typically be 1 hour or 45 minutes in length (Fitness class is 1 hour, Dance Fit class is 45 minutes), other suggestions of classes are welcomed along with instructor's experience (Stretch, Yoga, etc).
- The instructor may teach anywhere from 1-3 classes per week, with potential for additional classes as demand grows.
- Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Minimum $20/hour.
