**Organizational Overview**

An international organization of women religious, the mission of the Sisters of Charity is to give joyful witness to love, especially to those most in need. Some members of the Sisters of Charity reside at Caritas Residence, a retirement community overlooking the beautiful Bedford Basin in Halifax, **N.S. **Caritas Residence provides a comfortable and peaceful retirement community within a picturesque, park-like setting on the grounds near the former Sisters of Charity Motherhouse and adjacent to Mount Saint Vincent University campus. Caritas Residence is a managed facility and provides independent, assisted living, and long term care to other religious women, and lay men and women.

**Role Overview**

The Chaplain position requires a person who possesses a holistic approach to health and wellness with a special focus on spiritual care and the elderly. Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential and it is necessary to have an understanding of the Catholic Faith Tradition.

This unique individual is collaborative, flexible, and compassionate. As part of the Coordinator's team they will contribute to promoting spiritual, emotional, physical, and mental wellness for approximately 50 Sisters, many of whom are accomplished community leaders in healthcare, education and social justice, and many continue to be active in various levels of ministry.

This is a part-time position, approximately 20 hours/week. Schedule to be determined. You will work in transition with the current Chaplain.

**Summary Duties**

The main goal of this role is to be a contributing member of the Coordinator's team in fulfilling the needs and wellness of the Sisters residing at Caritas Residence. Duties may include and are not limited to the following:

- Provides spiritual and emotional care for the Sisters both formally and
- Work with Coordinator and the Care Team in addressing the needs of the sisters and identifying sisters who might desire/need some individual pastoral support.
- Work with the Liturgy Committee ensuring that Masses are offered on Sundays and other Holy Days of
- Play a leading role in other Liturgical services, e.) Community Prayer Service and Funeral Services.

**Education**
- A Master's Degree in Divinity or related
- Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE).
- Membership in the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC) would be an

**Salary**
- Salary commensurate with experience, range: $25,000 - $29,000, based on 20 hours/week.
- fits include 4% vacation pay & sick leave.
