**Unit Description**:
The Department of Chemistry & Chemical Biology, with a contingent of 29 full-time faculty members, conducts leading-edge research and top-tier training of undergraduate and graduate students. We offer undergraduate programs in Chemistry, Chemical Biology, and Sustainable Chemistry, including co-operative education options. We offer state-of-the-art laboratory facilities and instrumentation for both education and research, and maintain rich collaborative relationships with many departments across campus.

**Job Summary**: Responsible for the successful day-to-day operations of LabStores. Act as an ambassador for the store and ensure the delivery of exceptional customer service. Plans and co-ordinates all inventory, procedural and related stores activities while ensuring budgets are adhered to

**Purpose and Key Functions**:

- Conduct analysis of sell-through, margins, in stock position, and inventory turnover of merchandise.
- Determine the quality and quantity of products purchased.
- Initiate and approve merchandise purchase orders in accordance with department and University purchasing policies. Obtain necessary purchase order approvals when purchase authorization limit has been exceeded.
- Ensure timely delivery, accurate pricing information, and maintenance of data information associated with the products being purchased and resold.
- Negotiate prices, terms, and delivery with vendors.
- Coordinate and oversee the selection and procurement of merchandise including vendor and product selection.
- Coordinate the return of merchandise to vendors for overstock, damaged and defective merchandise.
- Coordinate all price changes on purchased products.
- Ensure that all data, files, purchase orders, invoices, and supporting documentation are current, accurate and understandable for use by other staff to aid in the process of receiving, invoicing, and merchandising.
- Write, proofread, and edit a variety of documents including, but not limited to, training procedures and standard operating procedures (SOPs), reports, agendas and correspondence.
- Responsible for ensuring HECMET (Higher Education Cooperative for Hazardous Material and Equipment Tracking) is updated appropriately.
- Assist in creating business plans by providing input into forecasting sales and budgets, write-offs, and discounts.
- Determine the life-cycle of products and coordinate markdown schedules accordingly.
- Oversee inventory control by analyzing inventory trends, and by reviewing receiving logs, outstanding purchase orders, and sales histories.
- Enforce the store’s loss prevention guidelines and inform security of any suspicious or unusual activity.
- Meet or exceed budgeted sales targets.
- Ensure operation expense budgets are adhered to and maintained.
- Develop and implement effective store layouts that maximize the use of space throughout the year, utilizing effective signage, increasing traffic within the store and maximizing merchandise turns.
- Coordinate and direct personnel, communications and resources to ensure smooth and efficient store operations.
- Maintain the operation's customer service standard by demonstrating, fostering, and enforcing behaviours that promote customer satisfaction.
- Greet and actively engage customers on the sales floor to determine needs, locate products and make product suggestions. Ensure staff are greeting and actively engaging customers.
- Foster new connections within the targeted customer base community and strengthen current partnerships to increase store sales while cultivating new sales opportunities and outreach for other retail locations on campus.
- Collaborate with buyers as it pertains to new product selection, merchandise orders and reorders, product returns and dealing with damaged merchandise, minimum and maximum merchandise settings, and timing of shipments. Ensure issues are referred to appropriate buyer or receiving personnel for resolution.
