**Position Summary**:
The incumbent is responsible for providing support in learning, in the classroom, and the delivery of curriculum to students by providing technical support and advice, demonstrating learned techniques/ processes, and practices, using technical expertise of a specialized nature.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Works with students both during and outside class time to support learning by providing guidance, direction, and “hands-on” demonstration of learned curriculum, explaining the lessons in support of student understanding of the material. Reinforces technical information and advising on corrective actions to students re: samples based on the lesson taught by the faculty. Troubleshooting and responding to students’ questions in the studio setting.
- Prepares classroom student materials, tools, tool kits and equipment ensuring materials are maintained at levels for expected enrollment. Oversees inventory for classroom materials/equipment/tools and advises on need for re-stocking. This may also include purchase, preparation and cutting of materials for student use and in consultation with faculty.
- Ensures equipment and systems are operational for all labs/studios by checking and readying classroom, equipment and tools ensuring all are fully functional in preparation for classes - repair and/or arrange repair by outside service provided as required. Monitors equipment inventory and advises on equipment repair and replacement. Installation and maintenance of equipment (e.g. kilns, centrifugal casting machine, laser welder, 3D printers, etc.). Identifying problems and rectifying issues appropriately. Maintaining a daily, weekly, monthly, and annual schedule of studio maintenance.
- Monitoring and daily inspection specifically related to use and includes health and safety measures of specialized equipment such as eye wash stations, fire blankets, respirators, laser equipment, gas and oxygen lines, identification of leaks, repair and/or arrange for necessary repairs.
- Working with College Health and Safety team guidelines ensure equipment safety standards can be met and creates and shares/posts documentation on safe equipment use. Ensures WHIMS - SDS forms, labelling chemicals, storage and disposal protocols are followed.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Educational and Experience Requirements**:

- Two-year diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution Jewellery, Goldsmithing or equivalent.
- Completion of Canadian Laser Safety training - Laser Safety Officer Certificate is required.
- Training on use and maintenance of jewellery specific equipment such as lasers, 3D printers, casting kilns, etc., is required.
- Minimum three (3) years of jewellery related practical experience including a minimum of one year working with inventory, budget and customer service and experience working with 3D printers and laser equipment.

**Skills and Attributes**:

- Excellent organization, time management, project management, and prioritization skills.
- Ability to lift over 20 kg or 44 lbs (i.e., tools, equipment, oxygen tanks, boxes, materials, supplies, etc.).
- Demonstrated communication, collaboration, teamwork, and interpersonal skills at a professional level.
