Collier United Church is a Christian community that values connection, creativity, inclusion, love, diversity, transformation, and hope. Our downtown Church in Barrie, Ontario, seeks a Music With Children Animator to work in a team supporting the development of music with children in the community.

We desire that the person has:

- Knowledge of musical ability, preferably basic keyboard/guitar proficiency and directing abilities, emphasizing church and secular music.
- Creative ability to teach music to children and provide music for other occasions, as requested.
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and works respectively and cooperatively with others; an effective team player.
- Promotes growth and stability and develops musical skills of children’s group/choir/camp.
- Ability to establish SMART goals and outcomes for the 1-year duration of the program.
- Strength in administering and caring for the physical properties and materials related to the children’s music program.
- Support the vision and mission priorities of Collier Street United Church.
- Demonstrate practical communication skills (written, verbal) & demonstrate a high degree of initiative and problem-solving skills.
- Provide a Police Records Check that includes the vulnerable sector that is satisfactory to the employer.
- A Bachelor of Music Degree (or equivalent) and a minimum of 5 years of music with children.

With an excellent opportunity for developing the program, we hope the person will:

- Understand, plan, and execute various children’s music programs through playing and directing the group on church and secular music: weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, and seasonally. Regularly seek feedback from program participants and church staff, and evaluate the efficacy of programs offered, making adjustments as needed to ensure maximum impact for program and participants.
- Recruit, inspire, organize, and lead various activities for children to participate in music retreats/camps and other opportunities for learning and performance.
- Coordinate the periodic involvement of children in providing intergenerational and intercultural music for worship, concerts, and community events, with the Music Director and Minister/Worship Leader.
- Collaborate with the Minister to establish a worshipful, positive feeling and movement in the worship service by suggesting music appropriate to worship themes.
- Emphasize and be part of the team spirit of Collier and foster a spirit of joy and loyalty within the team, curating a healthy community through life-giving music.
- Perform other duties as required.

Contract length: 12 months

Part-time hours: 10-14 per week - 3 days per week for 4-5 hours per day (inclusive of Sunday)
