Brand Ambassador

**Brand Ambassador - Summer Student Position (Full-Time, 8-week contract; June 5 - July 28)**

You have no desire to be “insta-famous”, but every post you add to your social media accounts get so many likes and shares, you are an unintentional influencer. **Your friends and family may make fun of you for itwe want to pay you for it And you love the idea of using your talents to build a brand that makes a meaningful difference every day**

At Durham Youth Services (DYS), we partner with youth to achieve and maintain lasting solutions to their housing crisis, in pursuit of our vision to end youth homelessness in Durham Region.

As a Brand Ambassador for the summer, you will work with the DYS Administrative Coordinator to raise awareness for Durham Youth Services programs and services within our local community.

**So, What Will You Actually Do?**
- Primarily working remotely from a home-office environment, you will be provided with a social media calendar, some key messaging, and a brand guidebook. You will create a library of social media posts that align to the calendar, appropriate to a variety of channels (Facebook, Instagram, twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok) that DYS will use for publication throughout the year.
- Durham Youth Services also participates in a number of events (i.e. Ribfest, Pride, etc.) throughout the course of the summer. As the Brand Ambassador, you will attend events as requested, delivering key messages and answering questions to raise awareness about the programs and services offered by Durham Youth Services.
- During the month of June, three Home Depot stores in Durham Region will be working to raise money on behalf of DYS. You will visit each of these stores weekly through the month of June, supporting and thanking Store Associates, intercepting consumers and raising awareness about the Home Depot Orange Door Project, and the way that their donations make a difference to youth experiencing homelessness in Durham Region.
- Delta Bingo in Pickering supports DYS by paying for the utilities and groceries for our Emergency Shelter for youth experiencing homelessness. In exchange, we send staff/volunteers to their location to clean, wipe down machines, and interact with the guests as they are gaming. Over the course of your 8-week contract with DYS, you will be assigned three 2-hour Bingo shifts in support of DYS.*

**What Skills and Experience Will Make You Amazing At This Job**:

- Socially confident with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong understanding of principles of design, specifically applicable to social media. Comfortable using Canva.
- Excellent ability to craft a message tailored to the audience and suitable for the channel, with the appropriate tone and impact relevant to the material.
- A great team player with a positive, professional work ethic and attitude.
- Ideally you have access to a reliable vehicle that will enable you to travel, with a trade show booth and give-away packages, to community events.
- Must be aged 15 - 30 years old (related to the Canada Summer Jobs contract requirements)
- Preference will be given to students enrolled in, or having completed, studies in Marketing/Advertising/Communications or a related program.

**TERMS OF POSITION**

**This position is for 35 hours a week, Monday-Friday on an 8 - week contract (June 5 - July 28)**

**Compensation = $15.50/hr.**

**Must be 19 or above to complete this duty.**
