The Chief Financial Officer provides strategic leadership and advocacy of the financial resources of the Corporation including providing financial advice to Council and staff. As part of the senior leadership team, this position also provides counsel, guidance, and advice on corporate strategies, growth opportunities and risks. This position has oversight of the City’s accounting and financial processes, financial planning and analysis, payroll, investments, procurement, and property taxation and assessment.

**Responsibilities**:
Reporting directly to the City Manager/CAO, you will be joining a senior leadership team committed to achieving the City’s strategic goals. More specifically, you will be responsible for:
- Providing strategic financial leadership.- The achievement of corporate strategic plan objectives, department business plan objectives, and the efficient and effective utilization of resources.- Leading the Finance Department, including such things as: fostering an inclusive work environment, coaching, succession planning and performance management.- The stewardship of corporate assets; ensuring sound financial controls and policies approved by Council are adhered to and reported as required.- Overseeing annual budgets and financial statements; collaboration with the Mayor’s budget, annual audited financial statements reflecting Public Sector Accounting Board Standards, and long-term operating forecast which are presented and approved by Council.- Overseeing billing and collection of property taxes including assessment base management; ensuring taxes are billed accurately and timely and collection activities are followed to ensure cash flow is not impacted.- Overseeing long term financial planning and strategy development; aligning to the long term financial plan framework and ensuring overall long term financial health and sustainability at the city.- Overseeing procurement processes, accounting and payroll functions; ensuring annual legislative filing requirements with the province.- Participating in in-person and virtual out-reach events and townhalls to increase community engagement and knowledge of the budget process.- Providing financial advice to Council and staff; providing information regarding the impact of development (capital and operating), major capital projects, changes in the tax base, senior government grant programs and a solid understanding of legislation related to municipal finance and financial forecasts related to the financial status of the City.

**Requirements**:
You are an inspiring financial leader, communication expert, and innovative problem solver that takes pride in serving the community. You are strategic thinker with a strong background in understanding budgets, financial opportunities & risks. You gain the confidence and trust of others by effectively collaborating with internal and external stakeholders and consistently demonstrating integrity. You are a change leader with strong working knowledge of the Municipal Act, Employment Standards Act, Assessment Act and other relevant Federal or Provincial legislation or regulations affecting municipal finance and payroll.

You have a University Degree in Accounting, Business, Economics, Commerce or related field. Must be a member in good standing with a professional Canadian accounting designation (CPA), along with 10 to 15 years of demonstrated progressive experience in financial management, including a minimum of five years' experience at a senior level leading and coaching a diverse group of senior financial professionals.
