**Job description**:The Bar Steward contributes to the RCHA Brigade Association (the Club) by providing and promoting a welcoming and relaxed environment for members and guests to enjoy. Reporting to the Chair of the Board and the Head Steward, the Bar Steward has the authority of the Board of Directors to exercise the Club’s Etiquette and enforce all Public Health, safety and AGCO regulations to ensure that all patrons enjoy their visit to the Club.
**Responsibilities**:
The Bar Steward has the following responsibilities and duties:
- Provide service to patrons and ensure accurate and efficient operation of the Bar
- Ensure that the Club is clean, tidy and are patrons are served courteously
- Ensure familiarity with all switches, fire procedures, policies and guidelines
- Periodically review the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) policies and guidelines
- Periodically review the Bar Stewards Manual and the Health and Safety Manual
- Perform tasks as outlined in the Operating Procedures and other tasks that may be assigned
**Requirements**:
The Bar Steward should have the following skills, education and experience:
- Experience working in a hospitality environment specifically where alcohol is served
- Have successfully completed high school and the updated Smart Serve Ontario course
- Experience that highlights the ability to work in a sometimes stressful environment
- Experience that highlights the ability to work as a team member
- Experience with sales using a cash register, handling cash and debit/credit systems
- Ability to work with volunteers and other staff
- Ability to diffuse uncomfortable situations
- Flexible with work demands
**Experience**:
- serving: 1 year (preferred)
- Bartending: 1 year (preferred)
**Job Type**: Casual
Pay: From $17.20 per hour
Expected hours: 4 - 30 per week
Additional pay:
- Tips
Flexible language requirement:
- French not required
Schedule:
- Evening shift
- On call
- Weekends as needed
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Kingston, ON K7L 2Y7: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
Licence/Certification:
- Most recent version of Smart Serve (required)
