**POSITION BACKGROUND**:
The HSLP Manager oversees the internal and external safety departments for Ketek. This position will advise the HSLP Advisors and Prime Contractor Safety Advisors on proper and efficient protocols for the Ketek Safety Program and all client safety requests.

**CORE DUTIES**:
**Compliance**
- Perform management inspections of Ketek Group to confirm they are meeting Occupational Health and Safety guidelines
- Ensure compliance with legislated requirements
- Provide advice and assistance to clients on contractual health and safety requirements
- Oversee completion Formal Hazard Assessments for quotes, ongoing projects, and start-ups
- Complete regular job site inspections
- Use a risk-based approach to creating standards and work procedures
- Developing, implementing and maintaining written HSLP programs, policies and procedures
- Participates in corporate wide initiatives to identify and develop best practices
- Provide advice regarding development of standards and work procedures

**Client Management**
- Oversee external Safety Advisors in the field, ensuring that all contractual obligations are adhered to
- Meet with clients on an annual basis for contract reviews
- Handle clients’ safety requests and requirements

**Daily Administration**
- Providing coaching and counseling on safety related issues to all levels of the business
- Manage and oversee the training department to ensure training needs are being met
- Review Pre-Job Safety Instructions\Hazard Assessments (PSI’s), Near Misses, Hazard Identifications and other proactive reports. Prepare and present findings to management
- Oversee the completion of investigations both in Ketek Group buildings, yards, and job sites
- Oversee weekly safety meetings in all Ketek Group buildings in Edmonton

**Employee Management**
- Complete employee reviews
- Provide opportunity for professional development
- Actively strive to ensure a positive, safe work environment with high employee morale

Coordinate with Human Resources to engage in progressive discipline where required
- Ensure all Ketek work procedures, policies and Occupational Health and Safety regulations are followed
- Submit required paperwork for wage changes, transfers, promotions, etc.

**Other Duties**
- Provide leadership and advice to the Joint Work Site Health and Safety Committee
- Promote a culture of safety excellence
- Fill required paperwork
- Observe all safety procedures and use proper Personal Protective Equipment
- Ensure that all of Ketek policies and Occupational Health and Safety Legislation are followed
- Be considerate of the needs of our community and the environment
- Represent Ketek in a light that is commensurate with the values of Management and the Corporate Vision and Mission Statements

**QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS**:
Required
- CRSP or Equivalent Minimum 10 years of experience as a safety officer or advisor
- Minimum 10 years of oilfield and/or construction experience
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence and clean driver’s abstract
- Fluent in the English language (reading, written, spoken)
- Able to deal with the public in a positive, courteous, and respectful manner
- Able to handle multiple tasks and frequent demanding deadlines
- Able to handle changing schedules and priorities, with high level prioritization skills
- Strong work ethic and organizational planning skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Effective verbal and listening communication skills

**Preferred**
- Knowledgeable in Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia Health and Safety Legislation

**WORKING CONDITIONS**:
**Physical Demands**
- Must work outside in all weather conditions, including extreme cold and extreme heat
- May at times be exposed to dangerous and/or toxic substances and must take necessary precautions to protect eyes, nose, and skin from irritation and infection
- May be required to work around heavy-duty equipment
- Regularly required to stand/sit, talk/hear, use hands/fingers to operate a computer and telephone, stoop, and kneel
- Moderate exposure to computer screens

**Work Environment**
- Office environment (80%), field environment (15%), and shop/yard environment (5%)
- May be required to work weekends and outside of regular office hours
- On call 24/7
- Pre-Access drug and alcohol testing may be required for Client site visits
