Medical Transcriptionist

Prairie Mountain Health is hiring a Full-Time Medical Transcriptionist for the Regional Programs Site.

Reporting to the Manager, Health Information Services, the Medical Transcriptionist transcribes medical reports on clinical findings, diagnostic workups, and therapeutic procedures for inclusion in the health record and for transmission to physicians and/or other health care facilities. The Medical Transcriptionist efficiently and accurately transcribes and produces dictated reports within the prescribed parameters for priority of the work.

QUALIFICATIONS:
** Grade 12 education (MB Standards)
** Graduate from a recognized Medical Transcription Course
** One (1) year experience transcribing a variety of medical/surgical reports
** Knowledge of current medical/surgical terminology, techniques and drug names
** Accurate keyboarding skills, with minimum 60 wpm
** Province of Manitoba Class 5 Drivers License, and access to a personal vehicle to provide service within Prairie Mountain Health
** Demonstrated organizational skills, and the ability to work independently
** Demonstrated communication skills
** Demonstrated flexibility to facilitate changes in techniques and procedures
** Ability to display independent judgment
** Ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population
** Ability to respect and promote confidentiality
** Ability to perform the duties of the position on a regular basis
