**Newcomer Adult & Families Outreach Worker**

LUSO's Community Connections program provides diverse opportunities for **newly arrived newcomer adults and families** to integrate successfully into their community. The Newcomer Adult & Families Outreach Worker is responsible for the development and facilitation of small group programs that engage newcomer adults and their families in activities based on their interest. Sessions focus on skills development, social activities, informal language development through conversational circles, cooking, crafts etc. The Outreach Worker is also responsible to organize community activities and field trips connecting newcomers to community resources or local services in the community

**Reporting**: The Newcomer Adult & Families Outreach Worker will report to the Community Connections Manager and will work collaboratively with the Youth Outreach Workers within the Community Connections program. This position will also work closely with other service providers, partners and key stakeholders to provide ongoing support and services to adults in Northeast London

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Create, plan, and facilitate a variety of adult focused programs and events to meet the needs of **newcomer adults and families** and provide them with opportunities to be engaged in their community
- Promote existing programs to reach the broader newcomer population in Northeast London
- Conduct outreach activities to connect with newcomer adults and families in the neighbourhood
- Gather information from neighbourhood families, and partnering organizations to be sure that the needs of newcomers are being met
- Establish partnerships and relationships with local agencies, schools, etc. in the delivering ongoing programming opportunities
- Provide opportunities for newcomers to be engaged and productive members of their community
- Support newcomer adults to volunteer and develop life skills and interpersonal skills
- Identify and provide monthly workshops related to newcomer adults needs including, financial literacy; pre-employment sessions; rights and responsibilities etc.
- Fulfill administrative duties associated of the program such as maintaining statistics, evaluation, report writing, committee meetings, community meetings, etc.
- Constructive participation as a member of the LUSO staff team by furthering collective team goals and representing the principles and values of LUSO Community Services in all interaction with others

**Key Qualifications**:

- Degree or Diploma in the Human Services field of study.
- Demonstrated experience in working with **newcomer adults and families;**- minimum 2-3 years
- Knowledge and experience with different community engagement strategies
- Experience in program planning, event planning for adults and families
- Demonstrated leadership skills, strong organizational, and time management skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills as well as verbal and written communication skills
- Experience with report writing, maintaining statistics
- Capacity to build relationships with adults, families, community members, and professionals
- Proven ability to work with adults of diverse and ethnic/cultural backgrounds
- Motivated, self-starter and able to work in a fast paced environment
- Capacity to work independently as well as within a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Second language a strong asset
- in particular Spanish, Arabic
- **Clearance through a Vulnerable populations police screening process. Must have before commencing employment**:

- Safe Food Handling an Asset
- Must be able to show proof of vaccination or provide medical or human rights exemption documentation

**Salary range**: $44,000- $45,000
