Guest Attendants are an integral point of contact between the residents and Highland Manor. Job descriptions are a guide only, there may be other tasks an employee in this position may complete at the request of a resident, family member, co-worker or manager.

**Responsibility**:
Assist residents with the activities of daily living.

**Core Duties**:
Assisting Residents with Bathing:
Determining what level of assistance each resident requires at the time of bathing and providing that assistance - may include being in the area while a resident is bathing, assisting a resident in and out of the tub, assisting a resident with washing and drying themselves - cleaning the bathtub after use.

Bed Making:
Changing residents bed linens on a weekly basis (or as needed), usually on the day the resident has a bath - removing the comforter, blanket and sheets from the bed - remaking the bed with fresh linens.

Provide Fresh Towels:
Remove and replace towels used by residents on a weekly basis (or as needed), usually on the day the resident baths.

Resident Laundry:
Linen Laundry

Walker/Wheelchair Cleaning:
Cleaning the resident's walker or wheelchair (if they use one) on a weekly basis, usually on the day the resident bathes.

Serving Beverages at Mealtimes:
Serve residents from a variety of beverages at breakfast, lunch and supper in the dining room.

Record Keeping & Reporting:
Recording and communicating to other staff tasks done or not done, unusual events and equipment/maintenance issues or other issues as required.

Mail Delivery:
Sort the bulk mail when it arrives and distribute to the resident and staff in a timely manner.

Weighing Residents:
Weighing the residents quarterly and recording the resident weight.

**Other Duties**:
Training:
Attend all training sessions offered by the employer or outside agencies
- complete all training packages provided by the employer or outside agencies - complete tests with a high level of accuracy in a timely manner.

Organization:
Be organized in thought and action - keep the linen closet and laundry rooms neat and tidy.

Judgement:
Make decisions based on education, experience and knowledge of Highland Manor's policies and procedures to advocate on behalf of the residents.

Customer Service:
Interacting with residents, family members, co-workers, management, outside contractors and the general public in a way that strengthens relationships - this may be in person or on the telephone.

Time Management:
Working in a manner that meets the needs of the resident, regularly scheduled events and delegated tasks within the confines of the time allotted.

**Skills and Abilities Required**:

- Flexible and self-directed
- High physical stamina
- Respects dignity, privacy and personal space of residents

**Staff Reporting to Guest Attendants**:
None

**Person to Whom the Guest Attendant Reports**:
Nurse Manager/Charge Nurse

**Working Hours**:
Shifts on every day of the week

Days: 7: 00 am to 3:00 pm (a fifteen minute paid break at 9:30 am, a half hour unpaid lunch break at 11:00 am and a fifteen minute break paid break at 1:30)

Afternoons: 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm (one half hour unpaid supper break at 6:00 pm, a paid fifteen minute beak at 8:00 and a paid fifteen minute break at 9:30 p.m.)

**Unusual Occurrences Affecting the Usual Flow of Guest Attendant Work**:

- Outbreak of illness
- Incidents/accidents
- Last minute admissions
- Power outage/major systems malfunctions

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: $17.80 per hour

Expected hours: 15 - 30 per week
