Montessori/daycare Cook

The cook is responsible for duties relating to the purchasing, preparation and serving of snacks and meals according to Canada’s Food Guide. The position also includes administration tasks such as daily logs and record keeping.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

Duties will include but are not limited to:

- Preparing snacks and lunch for toddlers and Preschoolers (80-90 children)
- Ability to cook meals and bake from scratch.
- Must be able to make lunches accommodating dietary restrictions and allergies.
- Keep a clean and organized kitchen to Public Health Standards
- Clean and sanitize kitchen and general areas
- Deliver and collect lunch/snack trays to and from all classrooms
- Maintain regular inventory of equipment and supplies
- Maintain appropriate temperatures of food and maintain a log
- Order groceries in consultation with the supervisor
- Ability to multi-task and work under pressure
- Works with a positive attitude and as a team player
- Have the physical stamina and ability to kneel, bend, lift and stand for extended periods.

Required Education, Skills and Qualifications
- CPR and First Aid Level C
- Current Criminal Background Check
- Up to date immunization record
- Negative TB test
- Food Handlers Certification
- Effective communication skills

Weekly Grocery Shopping
Ability to operate standard kitchen appliances.
Knowledge of Canada’s Food Guide

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $18.00-$19.00 per hour

**Experience**:

- cooking in a childcare setting: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

- Ontario Food Handler Certification (required)
