The **Dietary Aide** is accountable to support all aspects of food service to meet the needs of the residents in conjunction with infection control, quality management and legislative requirements. As a values member of the team, the Dietary Aide demonstrates a commitment to resident safety by providing quality care.

**Qualifications**
- Must possess a Food Handler's Certificate or be willing to train;
- Preference will be given to individuals who have previous experience in the food service industry and working with seniors, minimum of 2 years’ experience required
- Demonstrates an understanding of excellent customer service skills;
- Must be physically able to lift and transfer heavy, hot items and stand/walk for majority of shift;
- Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
- Minimum Grade 12 education

**Key Responsibilities**
- Serving meals and coffee to residents in the dining room using correct serving utensils and portion sizes.
- Serves meals to residents and guests in a professional and courteous manner;
- Assists in the set up and preparation for service of various items such as beverages, salads, desserts, etc.;
- Assists with catering, and actively participates in special occasions and theme events;
- Assists in the orientation and training of new employees;
- Assists in maintaining the dietary department in a safe and sanitary manner.
- Provides assistance to the Cook in preparation and service of meals.
- Setting and clearing tables in the dining rooms.
- Transporting dishes to/from dining rooms and kitchen.
- Preparing nourishments and carts for service.
- Preparing supplements and thickening fluids for texture-altered diets.
- The position will involve lifting, serving food, reheating or light cooking
- Follow sanitation and infection control policies and operation of industrial dishwasher.
- Follows and complies with health and safety legislation and departmental safe job procedures;
- Complies with all provincial regulations and established department policies and procedures.
- Carry out duties in a positive and professional manner within a multidisciplinary team.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent, Casual
Part-time hours: 10-40 per week
