Clinical Educator-Health Disciplines are leaders and positive change influencers in health discipline clinical education, student learning and staff skill development who work to optimize outcomes in safe, quality program based outcomes and experiences. All duties are performed in accordance with the Mission and Values of Unity Health Toronto.

**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES**:
As a Clinical Educator, Occupational Therapist in the Geriatric and Complex Medical Rehabilitation Program, major responsibilities will include being:

- a leader in Geriatric and Complex Medical Rehabilitation
- an experienced resource for shaping skills in staff and students
- a role model for change, planning, implementation and sustainability
- a point leader to triage and facilitate clinical issues that arise
- a coach to foster and support professional learning and professional development
- a champion in program based interprofessional team development

**RESPONSIBLE FOR**:

- Program orientation and unit onboarding of students and staff;
- Modeling excellence in clinical skill, team collaboration and integration of Unity Health Values;
- Coaching and mentoring performance issue to enable clinical professional development;
- Acting as a consultant in complex patient situations;
- Providing input into decisions impacting clinical practice, recruitment and retention, and other
workplace issues;
- Providing input to inform and shape human resource staffing planning;
- Coordinating staffing assignments for weekend, casual assignment and priority coverage
- Supporting frontline staff in the utilization of platforms, tools and resources that foster deep
awareness of best practices in research at Providence Healthcare;
- Creating and fostering an environment and/or relationship with front line staff that encourages a
continuous learning environment
- Designing meaningful learning experiences in keeping with evidence best practice guidelines,
emerging research advancements, adult learning principles & interprofessional competencies;
- Participating in formal and informal evaluation of education programs

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from a recognized University or equivalent;
- Licensed/registered member of your regulatory college (or association where applicable) in good
standing;
- At least 5 years of profession-specific relevant experience;
- Demonstrated supporter of team-based practice and solid understanding of interprofessional
practice and collaboration;
- Strong leadership skills and decision making skills;
- Proven track record of success in a teaching/mentoring role;
- Understanding and support of research activities;
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, facilitation and coordination skills;
- Very good attendance record;
- Good performance record.
