Day Porter

**Position Summary**:
The Day Porter is responsible for assisting site client with a variety of tasks, including client-facing roles, so a strong customer service base is required. The Day Porter acts as an intermediary between site client and Facilities Management, so strong English-language communication skills are required. The Day Porter works with other Facility Management teams to execute a variety of event set-ups, office moves, furniture installations, etc., so the ability to work with diverse teams is essential. The Day Porter provides site escort for a variety of contractors and service providers, and may be asked to perform surveys or take inventories, so the ability to work in a self-directed manner is preferred. The Day Porter also performs limited cleaning duties on site, and acts as a reserve for the cleaning team, so some janitorial experience is preferred.

**Essential Duties**:

- Follow all safety and personnel rules and regulations.
- Ability to understand and work within a centralized work order system.
- Respond with appropriate attention to detail on requests from clients, whether assigned or impromptu.
- Work well in a team, when requested, and take direction from supervisors and client.
- Work well alone, when requested, demonstrating effective use of work hours.
- **In addition, this position will also assist in minor facility repairs/maintenance, event set up/tear down, office moves, furniture installations, and other related duties as requested by the client.**:

- Replenish janitorial supplies as required.
- On occasion assist supervisor with inventory counts, janitorial supply room organization and stock receiving/put away.
- Collect and process cardboard and packing materials around site.
- Collect and process waste materials around site.
- Clean washroom facilities including all fixtures, toilets, shower stalls, floors, mirrors.
- Vacuum rugs and carpeted areas in offices, lobbies, and corridors.
- Hand dust and wipe clean all office furniture, files, fixtures, paneling, windowsills, and all other horizontal surfaces.
- Remove all finger marks and smudges from vertical surfaces, to include doors, doorframes, around light switches, private entrance glass, and partitions.
- Patrol stairwells and entryways to clean or damp mop spillage.
- Damp mop or clean any spillage in office and public areas as required.
- Dust all picture frames, charts, graphs, and similar wall hangings.
- Dust the exterior surfaces of lighting fixtures, including glass and plastic enclosures.
- Keep slop sink rooms in a clean, neat, and orderly condition.
- Wipe clean and polish all metal hardware fixtures and other bright work.
- Clean entrance door glass inside and outside, remove fingerprints and smudges.

**Specific Technical Knowledge**:

- WHMIS Knowledge
- Cross-contamination control techniques
- Minor repair and maintenance knowledge an asset
- Light-duty cleaning experience an asset

**Minimum Requirements**
- Ability to supply and pass a Police Records Check
- Must have strong verbal English communication skills. Written English communication skills an asset.
- This position can be physically demanding. Ability to perform all physical aspects of the job duties listed above. This includes but is not limited to lifting up to 50lbs, repetitive hand/arm motion, standing, walking, twisting, bending.
- Ability to read and interpret detailed process documents and work orders.
- Ability to complete written inspection reports and/or inventory sheets.
