As a Probation Officer, you will administer all community programs for justice involved adults and youth. The Probation Officer provides information to the court to facilitate the sentencing process. The Probation Officer is also a role model and representative of Correctional Services in the community, and acts as a change agent while working to reduce recidivism.
- Proven knowledge and experience in effective case management

- A solid insight into the traditions and culture of the of the Blackfoot Confederacy and more specifically of the Siksika Nation.
- Strong ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with a variety of community and other government ministries/agencies
- Demonstrated ability to gather, analyze, interpret and process information for investigative and casework processes
- Skilled ability to use goal-oriented thinking in problem solving situations and implementing resolutions
- The ability to communicate professionally and objectively using a broad range of communication styles
- Thorough knowledge of applicable legislation
- Understanding of working with youth through trauma informed practices
- Own transportation to travel into the community to collaborate with community stakeholders

Using your interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) you will conduct investigations, prepare reports, and attend court as required.

**Qualifications**:
**Correctional Service Worker 1**:Two-year diploma in a related field plus two years related experience; or equivalent as described below.
- A related one year certificate and one year of related experience.
- Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of one year of education for one year of experience; or one year of experience for one year of education.

**Correctional Service Worker 2**: University graduation in a related field plus 2 years related experience; or equivalent as described below.
- Two-year diploma in a related field plus 4 years related experience; OR
- Completion of the in-service Criminal Justice Certificate plus 5 years related experience (applicable only to employees who have completed the certificate prior to it being discontinued on December 31, 2017).

**Related diplomas or degrees** including but not limited to the following fields will be considered:

- Sociology
- Psychology
- Social Work
- Youth Work
- Correctional Services
- Justice Studies
- Applied Justice
- Criminology

**Assets **will be considered as follows:

- Experience working in Community corrections or providing case management with vulnerable populations.
- Experience in completing casework/ programming services (example: behaviour management planning, community corrections programs).

**Salary**:
**Correctional Service Worker 1**:
Bi-weekly: $2,289.04 to $2,958.66 ($59,743.94 to $77,221.03 annually)

**Correctional Service Worker 2**:
Bi-weekly: $2,491.87 to $3,222.12 ($65,037.81 to $84,097.33 annually)

**Notes**:
This is a temporary, full-time position working 36.25 hours per week.
