The primary focus of Patient Food Services is ensuring proper nutritional care to the patients, community clients and the community programs, by providing foods within the scope of established Nutritional Guidelines, meeting food safety standards within a set budget. The Food Management System, CBORD Food Service Suite and Nutrition Service Suite support the operations of the department
The Applications Specialist provides expertise regarding Food Services computer systems, and related technologies. They ensure operational coordination and ongoing advancement, and integration of the system into other patient care/clinical/ business systems, working in consultation or collaboration with others.
**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Ensures ongoing availability of enabling technology for managing Food Services transactions and food-related information
- Provides support for integrating Food Services computer systems with other patient care, business and clinical computer systems
- Provides support to process improvement projects pertaining to the food service technology systems
- Ensures the development, implementation, testing, evaluation and ongoing refinement of Food Services computer systems
- Seeks and updates knowledge of new or innovative use of enabling technology as relevant to SMH food system
- Coordinate and perform monthly, year-end and ad hoc activities pertaining to transfer of Food Services data transactions to finance, reconcile accuracy of data transferred as required
- Audits and monitors food inventory transactions for accuracy
- Provides information and reports based on data in Food Services computer systems for individuals within the Food Services
- Reviews all change orders, recipes, service menus, and input to production system
- Coordinates maintenance of the electronic food systems
- Supports staff development and training as required pertaining to Food Services computer systems and data capture systems
- Acts as a resource to staff in areas pertaining to Food Services computer systems and automation
- Perform ongoing audits, review and assessment of the current computer system processes; identify problem areas, desired outcomes, and improvement opportunities; suggest solutions
- Recommend improvements in the computer system processes as relate to the food system. Coordinate their evaluation and implementation
- Develops annual objectives in area of responsibility
- Participates in, relevant hospital committees, task forces or projects
- Performs other assignments and responsibilities as required to achieve department and hospital objectives
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Member of the College of Dietitians of Ontario and Dietitians of Canada
- Minimum four years of Food Services practice experience in a hospital environment, with demonstrated understanding of the Food Services supply chain
- Minimum three years of experience supporting hospital Food Services computer and related systems
- Demonstrated Clinical Nutrition knowledge and practice
- Demonstrated skills and experience in project management and process improvement
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and organization skills
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills and a strong customer service orientation
- Demonstrated ability to promote and work in a team environment
- Able to meet deadlines and targets;
- Customer focus
