Lac Ste. Anne Métis Community Association (“LSAMCA”) is a self-governing, vibrant Métis community whose traditional territory encompasses west central and northwest Alberta. With a strong sense of community and cultural identity and the recent recognition of our section 35 rights by the Province of Alberta, LSAMCA is focused on honouring the independent spirit of our ancestors while ensuring the wellbeing of future generations. LSAMCA is active in protecting the rights and interests of our members through our participation in consultation, regulatory and Indigenous monitoring activities in our traditional territory. LSAMCA provides direct supports to its members through investments in education, training, housing, and various social programs funded by our involvement in sustainable economic development activities.

KEY TASKS
- Oversee all aspects of financial management, including budget development, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Provide support and supervision to the accounting team. Coordinating activities with staff including accounts payable, accounts receivable, month-end, payroll, and reporting.
- Ensure all financial administration systems, policies, directions, and internal controls are developed and documented to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Ensuring that all month-end financial accounting duties and all financial reporting are completed accurately and on time.
- Supervising all accounting including business transactions, processing accruals and adjustments, reconciling accounts and preparing monthly accounting statements.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including funding agencies, government authorities, and auditors.
- Advise the Directors on an ongoing basis regarding LSAMCA’s current and anticipated future financial status.
- Meet regularly with project managers (whether contract or staff) to develop and review monthly statements to ensure financial reporting is timely and relevant to their funding agreement and/or work plan. The Controller is responsible for fiscal compliance of all government grant and contribution agreements.
- Coordinate with external financial entities on behalf of LSAMCA, negotiate bank financing and supervise all audits and internal control processes.
- Identify and assess financial risks and opportunities and develop strategies to mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the organization's strategic plan, providing financial expertise and insight to support strategic goals and objectives.
- Collaborate to support LSAMCA-affiliated entities focused on business development initiatives and to aid in ensuring financial feasibility.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree from a recognized University or College in the area of finance, accounting, or a related field.
- Current professional accounting designation (CPA) is a plus.
- Minimum of three years in a senior accounting role.
- Experience working in an Indigenous or similar community-based organization is a plus.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills that promote mutually beneficial and respectful professional relationships.
- Effective communication skills with individuals working across the organization.
- Strong understanding of Federal & Provincial Grant and Contribution Funding Agreements.
- Detail oriented with the ability to analyze and reconcile accounts, as well as competency in the preparation of financial statements and analysis.
- Proficiency with Sage financial reporting system.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record/Police Information Check
- Satisfactory References.
