**Job Summary**:
Reporting to the Recreational Program Lead, the Recreation Aide would be responsible for facilitating recreation programs that improve the 7 dimensions of wellness; physical, emotional, intellectual, environmental, vocational, social and spiritual. Using relationship-centred care, our recreation aides connect with residents, their family, friends and other staff members through programs, to develop meaningful relationships. Recreation Aides must consider residents when planning, leading and adapting programs to ensure inclusion no matter one’s abilities. Help build resident’s skill set to realize their endless potential and support their passions for recreation.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Support dementia care residents during recreation programs with patience and respect
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate engaging recreation programs in large and small group settings as well as 1:1.
- Coordinate supplies and preparations with the Recreational Program Lead.
- Complete resident assessments to ensure programming is meaningful to individuals.
- Document participation levels and resident feedback to evolve programs.
- Other duties and tasks as required.

**Schedule**:
Casual Position: 30 hours/week.

**Qualifications**:

- Previous Recreation Aide experience with older adults is preferred.
- Recreation Therapy Aide certification or equivalent is preferred.
- Certifications or training in gerontology, Dementia/Alzheimer's, wellness interventions, SmartServe, and Food Handling are considered an asset.
- Be positive, cheerful and have a passion for recreation programming.
- Good organizational, time management, judgement and decision-making skills.
- Have clear communication and empathetic ability to establish therapeutic relationships.
- First aid certificate is an asset and will be required for the job position.
- Must be fluent in both written and spoken English, other language proficiencies will be considered an asset.
- A current (within 6 months) Police Clearance and Vulnerable Sector Screening.

- Trico LivingWell provides care for at-risk client population, and we are committed to keeping our residents and staff safe. Pay: $19.00-$23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 - 30 per week
