Southern Plains Co-op is hiring for the position of Finance Controller based in Estevan, Saskatchewan.

**What you’ll do**:
Reporting to the General Manager, the Finance Controller is a key member of the senior leadership team. The Finance Controller has responsibility for planning, implementing, managing, and controlling all financial-related activities of the association. This includes direct responsibility for accounting, finance, forecasting, strategic planning, internal audit, compliance, equity management, deal analysis, and financing.
- Direct and oversee all aspects of the Finance and Accounting functions of the Association.
- Provide leadership to the accounting and administrative team. Responsible for the talent management cycle, including recruitment, development and training, performance management, etc.
- Manage processes for financial forecasting, budgets, and reporting.
- Ensure the credibility of the association's finances by providing timely and accurate financial reports, analysis of budgets, financial trends, and forecasts.
- Ensure that effective internal controls are in place and ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, provincial, and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting.
- Participate in the development and continuous evaluation of short and long-term strategic financial objectives.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with senior leaders to identify their unit needs and seek full range of business solutions.
- Provide recommendations to strategically enhance financial performance and business opportunities.
- Prepare financial reports and/or presentations for the Board as guided by the GM.

**Who you are**:
A recognized leader with
- Degree or Diploma with a preference for Business, Finance, or Accounting. Professional accounting designation will be an advantage.
- 5 - 8 years of progressive experience in accounting/finance is required; with at least 4 years at a leadership level.
- Sound knowledge of accounting principles and practices, and the analysis and reporting of financial data.
- Knowledge of business and management principles involving strategic planning, resource allocation, and financial planning.
- Knowledge of laws, government regulations, agency rules, banking, taxation, insurance, and Canadian Revenue Agency compliance rules.
- Skilled and proficient with the use of office software (Microsoft Excel, Word, etc.), accounting and financial analysis software.
- Ability to build and foster effective business relationships with employees, supervisors, vendors, and other departments within the organization.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with the ability to formulate and deliver ideas and material clearly and concisely.
