**Position Summary**

The Youth Wellness Program Coordinator is responsible for leading activities, workshops, webinars, core programming for Alberta Indigenous youth. A vital component of this position is to facilitate personal, social, and educational growth for youth which will empower them to reach their full potential in society.

The Youth Wellness Program Coordinator is responsible for delivering a variety of workshops, culture
- based programming and supports that target youth from ages 12-16 years old and young adults from 17-29 years old.

The coordinator plays a vital role in connecting youth to the right resources and support when needed. The role requires someone who is self-directed and possesses a passion to work and support young people in their journey. The coordinator role involves recruiting participants, maintaining relationships with these individuals, and providing opportunities to allow them to see their full potential. A strong knowledge of youth support and services in Alberta is required.

**Reporting to the Youth Programs Supervisor, key responsibilities include**:

- Program development and management.
- Coordinate workshops, webinars, and core programming for youth wellness.
- Facilitation of these programs requires you to:

- _Organize registrations, promotion of programs, program planning, maintain positive connections with youth, be creative and innovative in your thinking, organize evaluation and summary of activities._
- _Maintain a high level or professionalism and is required to be a role model and a mentor to youth._
- Navigate challenges for young people, social media, relationships, substance use, justice, employment, and homelessness.
- Work in partnerships with other community organizations and maintain professional communication and collaboration.
- Self-directed and independent worker who can effectively organize and prioritize their workload and meet deadlines.
- Determines gaps in service delivery and recommends strategies for improvements.
- Ensure that programs and services are effective in meeting the needs of young people and adhere to organization objectives.
- Attending regular training and development opportunities to maintain an up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding of information, health and safety and other relevant policies.
- Liaise with Elders in the community.

**Administrative and Financial Management**
- Monitors and manages program expenditures, materials. and program needs.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of the program by collecting data on program outcomes. This includes conducting surveys, gathering feedback from youth, parents, and caregivers to identify areas of improvement.
- Submits evaluation data and program reports quarterly.
- Maintains communication with supervisor.
- Support organizational - wide initiatives such as conferences, events and other initiatives as required.
- Perform other duties as required.

**Core Competencies**
- Experience in group facilitation and presentation skills.
- Ability to work well and experience facilitating in a group environment.
- Confident to work independently.
- Organizational and administrative skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Discretion and judgement in ability to handle confidential situations.
- Understanding of and sensitivity to diverse populations.

**Qualifications**
- Degree or diploma in related field and/or significant related experience.
- Minimum two years of experience working in Indigenous communities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suites, MS Teams, and databases.
- Strong communication, organizational, presentation, and leaderships skills are essential.
- Experience working with vulnerable children and young people.
- Current Criminal records check with vulnerable sector check, child intervention record check is required.
- Current first Aid and CPR-C certification.
- Suicide intervention /and or Mental Health First Aid.

**Skills and Abilities**
- Excellent organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
- Creative and innovative; you will take the initiative to solve problems and recommend improvements.
- Friendly, professional, and outgoing to promote positive working relationships individually and in a team.

**Requirements**:

- Citizenship: Canadian citizen or permanent resident (eligible to work in Canada).
- Language: Fluency in English is essential. Bilingualism in an Indigenous language is a strong asset.

**Location**: Edmonton Office. **Salary Range**: Based on experience.

**Term**:Full-time permanent. **Closing Date**:Until position is filled.

**Time**:Seven hours per day, Five days per week.
