**Job Summary Statement**:
The **Material Handling Equipment (MHE) Training Specialist** is responsible for conducting initial operator drive assessments, training operators on the various material handling equipment, conducting operator re-training and re-certification, and assisting with the onboarding of new MHE operators as well as assisting in the development and maintenance of site-training requirements.
**Essential Functions & Responsibilities**:
- Conduct initial Drive Assessments for potential hires at Brimich.
- Schedule and track all steps in the training process for assigned trainees in order to produce competent MHE operators. This includes providing:
- MHE Theory training, MHE Practical Evaluations, and review of the MHE Checklist
- RF gun use training and review of picking, shipping and receiving procedures
- warehouse orientation walk-throughs.
- Instruct new associates in material handling equipment safety, site safety & quality training.
- Conduct refresher & recertification training for existing associates through a continuous training schedule.
- Train associates in other areas, as required.
- Maintain all site training records, documents and tracking files ensuring prompt & accurate completion.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of site training packages, as required.
- Comply with site safety, Occupational Health & Safety Act and relevant legislation requirements at all times.
- Advise management of health and safety concerns.
- Look for and recommend programs to continuously improve the site’s Health & Safety performance and programs and to reduce accidents/incidents, including wellness and ergonomics programs.
- **Performs other tasks as required in the absence of primary duties, e.g. warehouse operations.**
**Job Specifications—Skills and Competencies**:
- **Must be flexible to work on different shifts to cover training needs on various shifts.**:
- **Must be willing to commit to this role for a minimum 18-month tenure.**:
- Must possess effective oral, written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well independently or within a team environment.
- Understands work processes and operational flow with working knowledge of and the ability to interpret Material Handling Equipment legislation, Health & Safety standards and other applicable legislation.
- Must be a self-starter with excellent organizational skills.
- Well versed in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.)
- Strong instructional, presentation and facilitation skills.
- A positive and proactive attitude for solving problems and meeting challenges.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and interact with all levels of employees.
**Education & Training Requirements**
- A minimum 5 years MHE experience **is desired **(Counterbalance and Reach).
- **Certified MHE trainer (Train the Trainer)**
