Youth Mentor Position Description

Job Title: Youth Mentor - The Bridge Wellness Hub for Hub (Focus on Employability Skills)

Location: Fort Saskatchewan

Position Type: Term Part-Time - 10 hrs week - From July 2024 until December 2024

Reports to: Program Coordinator + Executive Director

**Salary**: $17 hr

**About Us**:
The Bridge Wellness Hub for Youth is dedicated to supporting the holistic development of young individuals by providing comprehensive services that promote mental health, physical well-being, and employability. This position’s goal is to empower youth with the skills, resources, and confidence they need to succeed in the workplace and beyond.

**Position Overview**:
**Key Responsibilities**:

- Mentorship and Guidance:

- Provide one-on-one and group mentoring sessions focused on career exploration, resume

building, job search strategies, and interview preparation.
- Develop individualized action plans to address the unique needs and goals of each participant.
- Offer ongoing support and follow-up to ensure continuous progress and adjustment of plans as

needed.
- Skill Development:

- Facilitate workshops and training sessions on employability skills such as communication,

teamwork, problem-solving, time management, and professionalism.
- Assist youth in developing soft skills essential for workplace success, including adaptability,

resilience, and emotional intelligence.
- Resource Coordination:

- Connect participants with relevant resources and opportunities, such as internships,

apprenticeships, job fairs, and educational programs.
- Collaborate with local businesses, educational institutions, and community organizations to

create pathways for employment.
- Program Administration:

- Maintain accurate records of participant progress and outcomes.
- Contribute to program evaluation and improvement by providing feedback and insights based

on experiences with participants.
- Assist in outreach and recruitment efforts to engage more youth in the program.
- Advocacy and Support:

- Advocate for the needs and aspirations of youth within the community and among

stakeholders.
- Provide support in navigating challenges related to mental health, physical well-being, and

socio-economic barriers.

**Qualifications**:

- Education: Bachelor’s degree in social work, Psychology, Education, Human Resources, or

a related field preferred.
- Consideration will be given to current students at one of the related fields above.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience in youth development, career counseling, workforce development, volunteer management or a related field.
- Combination of education and experience will be taken into consideration.**Skills**:

- Strong understanding of employability skills and workforce development trends.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to build rapport with diverse youth populations and foster a supportive and inclusive

environment.
- Organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with digital tools for remote mentoring

and training.

- Flexibility and adaptability in responding to the evolving needs of youth and the program.

**Application Process**:
Compensation: $17/hour

Hours: 10 hours/week.

The Bridge Youth Wellness Hub for Youth Hours of Operation:

- Mondays: 11am to 7pm
- Tuesdays: 11am to 1 pm Lunch club at Schools and 3 to 7pm
- Wednesdays: 2 to 8pm
- Thursdays: 2 to 8pm

**Job Type**: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 5 months

Pay: $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10 per week
