**Veterinary Technician**

The Veterinary Technician will have a solid understanding of everyone’s roles and responsibilities within the company and within research studies. The Vet Tech must be familiar with the animals, including their general behaviour, to be able to perform daily observations, and be aware of any legitimate health problems.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Involved in research trials with a strong emphasis on animal health.
- Recording, analyzing and reporting results of tests and procedures, often utilizing computer programs.
- Ensuring adherence to test procedures.
- Assist in performing test protocol as necessary.
- Monitoring of health of research animals
- Performing animal health procedures
- Must understand the nature of the trials being conducted by Transpharmation
- Explaining techniques to new employees and visitors.
- Responsible for ensuring all equipment required for tests is present, sterile and operational.
- Preventative maintenance of basic laboratory equipment, some being computer controlled.
- Monitoring of laboratory equipment to ensure reliability and accuracy of performance.
- Preventive maintenance and care of animal health equipment
- Other duties as assigned

**KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS**
- Previous Vet Tech Experience
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and to meet timelines.
- Ability to work in a safe environment.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Veterinary diploma or B.Sc. degree in a relevant field or relevant direct experience.

**Job Type**: 12 month contract

Schedule:

- 8 - 10 hour shift
- Monday to Friday with Weekend availability

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Fergus, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)

**Experience**:

- Vet Tech experience: 2 -3 years (preferred)

Work Location: One location

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months

**Salary**: $47,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
