**Company Description**
The House of Commons Administration delivers outstanding services to Members of Parliament and their employees in support of parliamentary democracy. Our success is made possible by our talented and dedicated workforce. We leverage diversity in all its forms and recognize that everyone has valuable contributions to make and the potential for individual growth. If you dream of joining an organization that is small enough for you to be noticed, but big enough to provide you with a meaningful career, then we want to hear from you
The House of Commons' Procedural Services is currently looking to staff the House of Commons Page position for the 2025-2026 academic year.
Professional, impartial, and efficient service is a hallmark of the House of Commons Page Program. Each year, 40 students are selected from across Canada to participate in the Page Program. Pages are first-year students registered at one of the eligible post-secondary institutions in the National Capital Region.
As a Page, you will work on a part-time basis in the House of Commons Chamber under the direction of a group of supervisors and a coordinator. You will work under pressure in a fast-paced environment where you will showcase your strong time management, communication, and interpersonal skills, as well as a sense of team spirit. Possessing general knowledge of the Canadian parliamentary system would be beneficial.
You will support parliamentary democracy by providing various services to Members of Parliament, the Speaker and Chair occupants, and Table Officers. For example, you will collect and distribute official documents, deliver messages to Members, serve as a link between Members and their Hill offices, respond to requests from Members and staff, and answer telephone calls. On occasion, you will also meet with youth groups to speak about your duties as a Page and your experience working on Parliament Hill.
The Page Program is dedicated to ensuring your academic success and supporting your work-life balance. For this reason, we encourage you to consult our FAQ section, as not all post-secondary programs of study have a course schedule that aligns with the work schedule of a Page.
Provincial and territorial representation will also be considered during the recruitment and selection process for the Page Program.
**Top Reasons to Join the Page Program**
Joining the Page Program will provide you with an incredible work experience, which will broaden your knowledge of the rich traditions of the Canadian parliamentary system.
Your time as a Page will be shared with 39 other students from across the country. For many, these friendships last a lifetime, and the opportunity to exchange ideas with students from a variety of backgrounds enrich the educational component of the Program.
- Work at the heart of democracy and experience debates live in the Chamber;
- Assist with ceremonial and protocol events;
- Flexible hours that accommodate your class schedule;
- An attractive salary: Under the terms of their contract, Pages are paid $18,400 annually. In addition, a sum of $1,200 is paid at the end of the employment period for successful completion of the contract;
- Paid travel costs: The Page Program will pay for your trip to and from Ottawa at the beginning and the end of the contract;
- Perfect your second language (English or French): Pages provide high-quality bilingual client service to Members of Parliament;
- Training and development opportunities;
- Resources to promote well-being.
**Qualifications** Eligibility Requirements**:
- Be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident;
- Be graduating, or have graduated, from high school or CEGEP and starting full-time or part-time studies in September 2025 at one of the eligible post-secondary institutions in the National Capital Region.
**Experiences**:
- Experience providing client service through employment, volunteering or extracurricular activities;
- Experience in managing multiple priorities (e.g. work, school, community involvement, family);
- Experience communicating and collaborating with peers (e.g. teamwork, conflict resolution).
**Asset**:
- Demonstrate interest in learning about the Canadian parliamentary system and its history.
**Additional Information**
To be considered for the role, you must be able to orally communicate fluently in both official languages. You will be formally evaluated by the House of Commons. In order to be considered, the minimum required level for Oral Interaction is Intermediate level (B).
We invite you to save a copy of the notice of job opportunity. Once the closing date has passed, these documents will no longer be available.
