CNC Horizontal Boring Mill Operator

Job Summary

We are currently seeking a Toshiba CNC Horizontal 5 axis Boring Mill Operator for custom machining of fabrications and components that we design and build in house. This position requires availability to work both day and afternoon shifts.

**Responsibilities and Duties**
- Set up and operate Toshiba Horizontal Boring Mill with a Toshiba 888 controller
- Verify dimensions of machined parts for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments such as; micrometers, verniers, height gauges, depth micrometer
- Programming of cutter paths, holes, bores etc. by interpreting prints and CAD data
- Verify CNC programs
- Challenged daily in working with large complex & fabricated components, where material variation and conditions require an analytical approach to machining of product.
- Ability to work to tight tolerances and have excellent understanding of technical drawings.
- Experience with complex set-ups and use of overhead crane.
- Read machining drawings in metric and standard.
- Prove out of CNC Programs and first part run offs.
- Ability to read and understand manual CNC programs that will allow you to modify and edit.
- Able to optimize CNC Programs, feeds and speeds.
- Perform first off inspection of machined parts to ensure part compliance.
- Ability to identify, select, prepare and set cutting tools.
- Machining of higher complexity parts with a wide range of different materials

**Required Experience & Qualifications**:

- Recognized Certificate of Qualification as Machinist or equivalent work experience required
- 5+ years of operating knowledge of various machines (CNC Boring Mill)
- Minimum of 7 years related experience required in machining
- Must have experience working as a Journeyman Machinist
- Must have experience with CNC "CUSTOM - ONE OFF" machining of large fabrications, consisting of machine setup & Operation of CNC Boring Mills
- CNC programming and set up abilities, an asset
- Excellent troubleshooting skills to resolve issues with sound judgment
- Ability to read & interpret blue prints, drawings, charts & tables.
- Ability to utilize overhead crane to lift and maneuver large work pieces safely
- Motivated and able to work independently with mínimal supervision.
- Strong analytical skills and keen attention to detail.
- Experience working in a custom fabrication and machine shop
- Practice safe work procedures and follow all health & safety regulations
- Team player with good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Sound mathematical skills

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $35.00-$41.00 per hour
