**Job Overview**:
Building Systems Technician will be responsible for the operation, maintenance and repair of building systems equipment and to provide facilities infrastructure support to the Operations and Engineering teams. Equipment supported by the BST are HVAC, boilers, chillers, air compressors, water and wastewater treatment systems.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Safely operate building systems to provide specified and reliable environmental conditions and utilities to Give & Go production, packaging, warehouse, laboratory, and office areas
- Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, calibrate, alter/modify and coordinate the installation of the building systems
- Coordinates and/or supervises major repairs/installations with Maintenance, Operations, Engineering and external contractors.
- Audits and evaluates the operational effectiveness and preventive maintenance program of building systems in order make continuous improvements
- Participate in Give & Go health and safety programs and environmental sustainability initiatives
- Works closely and provides technical support to Maintenance, Operations, Health, Safety & Environment and Engineering staff on the delivery of capital initiatives and programs
- Compile and maintains all information and documentation relevant to all completed work
- Ensure all work is performed in full compliance with GMP, local codes / regulations, Give & Go SOP, work instructions and established safety standards
- Required to travel between sites to perform their duties and be on-call to respond to any issues that may result in operational downtime
- Identifies and develops plans to address deferred maintenance and renewal of building systems at Give & Go sites
- Organizes and conducts training to Maintenance for the operation and maintenance of building systems.
- Develop and present proposals to improve reliability and cost savings
- Assists Facilities Manager on implementation of service contracts and managing the performance of external service providers and suppliers, and developing building systems maintenance policies, practices, and procedures.
- Compile, analyze, and present statistical data regarding Give & Go building systems and facilities
- Responds to information requests from internal (e.g.Senior Management) and external (e.g. audits) parties.

**Qualifications**:

- Ontario Ministry of Skills and Development certificate of qualifications as a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic (License 313A),
- Gas Technician I certification, along with the completion of an associated 4 year apprenticeship
- 3 years of demonstrated hands on experience in operating, maintaining, repair and troubleshooting HVAC, boilers, chillers, air compressors and water treatment systems in an industrial environment.
- Experienced in the installation and/or maintenance in a variety of types of HVAC systems
- Knowledge in the operation and maintenance of steam supplied HVAC systems
- Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic (License 313A)
- ODP Certification
- Gas technician license (G1)
- Strong analytical skills including troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills effective in quickly identify issues, causes and sustainable corrective actions
- Demonstrated hands on experience in operating, maintaining, repair and troubleshooting HVAC, boilers, chillers, air compressors and water treatment systems in an industrial environment.
- Experience in use of a computerized Building Management System to operate building equipment including pneumatics and DDC is an asset
- Experience in operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment systems (Dissolved Air Floatation (DAF)) and ammonia systems would be an asset
- Ability to interpret facilities infrastructure, mechanical and electrical drawings and specifications.
- Ability to follow wiring schematics associated with a variety of types and makes of equipment
- Knowledge of the following codes and regulations: Ontario Building Code (OBC), Ontario Fire Code (OFC), Occupational Health & Safety, Canadian Safety Association (CSA) and Electrical Safety Authority (ESA).
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Must be able to handle fast paced environment with competing priorities and demands.
- Ability to recognize and act on safety hazards
- Valid Class G driver’s license

**Working Conditions**:

- Exposure to some loud noises and heavy machinery
- Exposure to use of some large tools and equipment
- Travel beyond normal commute between Give & Go sites
- On call 24/7 for related issues
