**SNOWBOARD INSTRUCTOR**

**Reports to**: Rental Shop/Snow School Manager

Instructors teach safe and fun lessons to a variety of ages and ability levels. They always teach and adhere to the Alpine Responsibility code, maintain a professional attitude, and represent HBMR’s values while carrying out their duties. Beyond teaching, instructors are also expected to help in the Rental Shop and Repair Shop, assembling rental equipment for guests before and after lessons, and doing small repairs to rental equipment. They will also be expected to shovel snow as a part of morning duties and help Ski Patrol with sweep at the end of the day.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Attend “check ins”, ready to teach, at Snow School 15 minutes prior to each lesson time
- Teach for the full allotted lesson time
- Ensure Progress Cards are filled out completely and properly at the end of each school group lesson
- Shovel, arrange pre-sets, clean rental shop, participate in morning meeting etc.
- Ensure rental forms are filled out properly and completely before starting rental process
- Assist guests with proper boot fitting and adjustment
- Ensure accurate ski/board selection, binding adjustment, pole measurements and helmet sizing
- Instructs guests in the correct use of rental equipment
- Assist with Kids Kamp, which may include planning of the Kamp, riding the bus with participants, supervising lunch, and participating in arts & crafts
- Notifies Rental Shop Supervisor if equipment is requiring repair or replacement
- Ensure knowledge of ski/board tune-ups and adjustments
- Ensure all guests are aware of the Alpine Responsibility Code and are following it at all times
- Report all accidents/injuries during lessons to Base 1 immediately
- Maintains a good relationship with guests, while being courteous and professional
- Maintains the Snow School Staff room in a tidy and organized manner - washes dishes after they are used
- Maintains the Rental Shop and Repair Shop in clean & organized order
- Carries out related duties as assigned

**Qualifications**:

- Fosters an atmosphere of safety and co-operation, and promotes positive teamwork in the Rental Shop as well as in all other HBMR locations
- Well-organized with multi-tasking skills
- Problem-solving ability
- Team orientated

**Education and Experience, Certificates and Licenses**
- Education: Highschool diploma
- Previous experience in ski instruction is preferred
- Minimum Level 1 certification through the CASI (or equal certification) required
- CADS certification is an asset
- A clean criminal record check

Contract length: 2 months

**Salary**: From $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 - 30 per week
