Job Description Summary

As a General Labour team member, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks including inspecting potato product for foreign material and/or defects, as well as sanitation & cleaning tasks to help us maintain high food safety standards. This position requires long periods of standing, as well as repetitive use of hand/arms to move products and use cleaning tools/supplies. Job tasks may occur in any area of the plant, require good physical stamina, and are labor intensive in an often fast-paced work environment. The General Labour group is essential in assisting the business in achieving its production goals.

Job Description
- Location: Taber, Alberta
- Full-time, Hourly
- Schedule: 12-hour shift schedule rotation (7:00-7:00) with an average of 42 hours per week. Must be available to work nights, weekends, and statutory holidays.
- Reports to: Production Team Leaders

As a General Labourer, you’ll
- Always maintain and promote safe work practices, including participating in daily safety initiatives
- Be stationed at various locations on the production line to inspect potato product for foreign material and/or defects
- Remove any foreign material found and notify the Production Team Leaders immediately if glass or metal is found.
- Perform sanitation tasks in assigned work areas using dedicated sanitation cleaning equipment and supplies, as well as a high-pressure water hose
- Perform cleaning duties as assigned during plant clean-up at the end/start of a production run
- Develop a thorough understanding of safe usage for all sanitation chemicals used in the plant
- Load and unload materials, parts, or products onto or from pallets, skids, conveyors, or trucks.
- Strip out product as necessary.
- Operate bulk blend-back equipment.
- Assist with off-site field sampling and truck scaling during growing season and harvest season operations.
- Assist with snow removal.
- Operate & locate important safety equipment, systems, and stations
- Understand and use all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Clean around work areas; assists sanitation laborers, and maintain good housekeeping.
- Fill out, maintain and sign all applicable documentation and administration forms for verification purposes.
- Report mechanical or electrical problems promptly to a Production Team Leader and the maintenance department
- Complete all company-provided and required training, including the training program outline for this position
- Effectively communicate with the General Labour Mentor and Production Team Leaders
- Collaborate, influence, and partner with team members across the organization to enable individuals and teams to be successful in their roles
- Engage in other duties concerned with our food safety programs & standards
- Perform other duties as assigned by your Production Team Leaders.
