Maintenance Technician

**Summary of Position**
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for preventative and predictive maintenance of all production equipment as directed by the maintenance supervisors and managers. It is expected that all provincial guidelines will be followed and met while following smart and safe work practices. Shift work from Monday-Friday is required for this position. The full scope of responsibilities and education requirements are listed below:
**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**
- Perform preventative/predictive maintenance to all production equipment as required
- Work side by side with experienced technician during equipment repair and learn smart/safe work practices
- Complete small electrical and mechanical projects based on direction given from Supervisor as required by provincial regulation
- Demonstrate safe work practices and follow company safety policies, procedures and regulations at all times
- Initiate and complete all other jobs, projects and special assignments as directed by Maintenance Supervisor
- Ensure compliance of all Company policies
- Ensure personal compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act is maintained at all times and recommends measures to improve health and safety
- Ability to work within a team environment and interact with all areas of production.
- Repair and replace electrical/mechanical/hydraulic/pneumatic and electronic components such as motors, belts, pulley, contractors, relays, timers, types of sensors, PLCs, light curtains, valves, brackets and fuses.
- Able to understand process through HMI and impact on operation while troubleshooting on different servo related values.
- Ability to replace different small servo motors and load parameters and values for precision operation and repeatability.
- Recognize and diagnose faults on equipment either mechanical or electrical or network, which may involve complex interlocking, interrelated circuits, integrated systems and complex sequencing.
- Install, examine, replace and repair electronic wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, cable assemblies, lighting fixtures and other electrical components
- Maintain production equipment to maximize operating performance and assist with maintaining electrical/mechanical spare parts inventory levels.
- Perform repairs on equipment to restore them to proper and safe work conditions
- Perform installation, set up, modification and relocation of equipment to accommodate or improve production requirements
- Read/write electrical and electronic schematics/diagrams, basic hydraulic and pneumatic diagrams
- Ability to set up machines/equipment as per standard benchmarking protocol for mechanical set up, electrical and electronic /servo set up to avoid quality related issues and optimize productivity.
- Make trade calculations for load requirements and select appropriate sizes/grades of components in accordance with current electrical code.
- Ensure production schedule is not jeopardized due to machine breakdown, or unsafe operating conditions and inform Engineering and Maintenance Manager about changes in electric circuits, update original diagrams and/or any mechanical set up.
- Always follow LOCK OUT procedure on unsafe machines/machines being serviced.
- Adhere to work orders, preventive/predictive maintenance systems by filling in required forms; and Organize workplace to comply with housekeeping 5S requirements.
- Able to read wiring diagrams, electrical/mechanical/pneumatic/hydraulic schematics and ladder/function block logic, you have working knowledge of industrial PCs and PLCs (Siemens Step 7, Beckhoff TwinCat, etc.) and electric circuitry consisting of contractors, relays, main voltage/control voltage, limit switches and proximity sensors
**Qualifications**:
**Education and Experience**
- Minimum 5 years of experience with strong problem-solving skills preferably honed in a fast-paced manufacturing/industrial environment with multiple priorities
**Skills**
- Troubleshooting experience with electrical & mechanical equipment, PLC systems, Robots, AC drives, DC drives, servo drives, motion control, HMI interface, motor controls, safety sensors, and relays.
- Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Systems (CMMS) an asset
