_**Position**_

Helper/Packer-Boxer
- **Role purpose**_

A Helper/Packer-Boxer (ie. General Labourer) will support activities as directed within the area they are assigned to work. Helpers may be moved from one area to another based on the needs of the business. This is a unionized position.
- **Reports to**_

Production Supervisor
- **Responsibilities**_
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized workplace.
- Comprehend and focus on food preparation as instructed.
- Preparation of pans for depositing; greasing, baking, depanning.
- Cake assembly, including but not limited to: cutting sponge, assembly of cakes and/or bases according to time standards, using palette knife to apply/smooth creams and fillings.
- Fill hoppers as required.
- Assembling boxes, rings, etc.
- Prepare shavings in correct quantities to avoid delays
- Cake Decorating, including but not limited to : Weigh and mix sliced fruits for Mixed Fruit Torte and Strawberry Shortcake Lines as needed with correct quantities to avoid production delays and overage of product. Aide with fruit section if needed.
- Dip strawberries in chocolate for finishing cakes with correct quantities to avoid production delays and overage of product.
- Weigh and mix nuts for Nutbuster as required.
- Product movement of trays, racks, ingredients, WIP and finished goods; heavy lifting is required.
- Actively participate in all training administered by the Company; report any food safety and/or health & safety concerns immediately.
- Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP), British Retail Consortium (BRC) requirements, and quality and food safety policies and procedures.
- Constructively raise any concerns with the Supervisor regarding personal or team’s responsibilities, issues with daily schedule, any quality concerns, and product/material shortages.
- Maintain one’s appearance and uniforms in compliance with La Rocca policies.
- Be respectful of fellow employees, supervisors and management; be a team player and assist others as needed.
- All other duties as assigned or required.
- **Knowledge, Skills & Abilities**_
- Completion of High School or equivalent is an asset.
- Excellent command of oral and written English is a must.
- Ability to read, comprehend and execute written instructions accurately and on time.
- High attention to detail.
- Ability to work to schedules, procedures and quality/sanitation requirements.
- Ability to work well with others as part of a team.
- High level of energy.
- Work any shift as scheduled; work overtime as may be required - weekdays and weekends.
- **Sensory & Physical Demands; Working Conditions**_

**Physical Demands**
- Capable to lift or move weights up to 25 kg.
- Ability to mix, reach, bend, push, pull, **stand,** carry and cut/chop continuously over the course of a shift; frequent repetitive movement.
- Extended periods of time focused on manual tasks, requiring care and attention to avoid injury to self or others.

**Working Conditions**
- Bakery environment which involves exposure to warmer than and cooler than optimal room temperatures.
- Fast-paced, high volume output environment.
- Must be able to wear all safety or protective equipment as required by the Company.
- Required flexibility to be moved between areas and tasks as needed.

**Salary**: $15.50 per hour

Schedule:

- Evening shift
- Monday to Friday
