Primary Duties
Reporting to the Supervisor of Services and Gas Operations, the Serviceperson will conduct and ensure safe installation, removal of natural gas, water and electric metering equipment. The incumbent will Investigate and resolve gas, water and electric issues, respond to odor calls and service and repair water heaters. The incumbent will conduct, inspect, and light gas appliance and, where necessary, issue and follow up on hazard reports as per the Natural Gas and Propane Code B149 and Ontario Regulation 212/01 (TSSA). The incumbent will also respond to emergency situations, including gas leaks. The incumbent may be asked to assist in Gas Construction or Regulating work with appropriate training and guidance.
Education, Certification and Other Qualifications Required
- Minimum Grade 12 Diploma. A minimum of two years of experience in a relevant field of work with a G2 gas license. Experience in a utilities environment will be considered an asset.
- Minimum Gas Technician 2 (G2) certification, as recognized by the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA). Must have, or ability to obtain a Gas Technician 1 (G1) or Gas Utility Technician 1 (GUT1) certification within a reasonable timeframe.
- Ability to obtain Gas Pipeline Inspector (GPI) Certificate
- Working knowledge of the Natural Gas and Propane Code B149. Knowledge of Oil and Gas Pipeline Systems - Z662 is an asset
- Leadership, team player, organized, resourceful and self-directed.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Electrical and basic plumbing experience is an asset.
- Strong computer and tablet skills.

Special Working Conditions/Conditions of Employment
- Maintain at minimum a valid “G” driver’s license and appropriate Gas Technician Certification throughout employment. A Restricted or D class driver’s license with Z endorsement is an asset.
- Must be able to work shift work, and cover after hours on call on a rotating basis.
