**The Associate Dean will be responsible for**:

- Recruiting, selecting, mentoring and providing orientation to all contract faculty;
- Provides supervision and direction to full-time faculty, as well as leads the recruitment and selection processes;
- Understanding the uniqueness of the Ontario apprenticeship system and working directly with government to meet expectations and requirements;
- Recognizing the unique strengths of both the apprenticeship and post-secondary models of skilled trades program delivery, and how they complement each other;
- Developing strong relationships with industry leaders, government, employers, secondary school boards and other external stakeholders that support the success of School programs and create opportunities for students;
- Taking an active role with high-profile campus initiatives, such as Women in Skilled Trades and Skills Ontario, and participating in a range of committees and groups that help set direction and policy for the broader college academic operations;
- Supporting the Executive Dean/Campus Principal in providing leadership for program growth and development through evaluation of existing courses and curriculum, revision or development of new courses and programs, and participating in program advisory meetings, program reviews, program accreditation and pathway initiatives;
- Assisting in the identification of detailed program needs, including required specialized space, necessary equipment and equipment upgrades, classroom/office renovations, etc.;
- Working with the Executive Dean/Campus Principal to forecast student enrolment numbers for all School programs for budgeting and recruitment purposes;
- Being a visible and active champion of School programs and the college at key recruiting opportunities, such as open house, and through external visits to campus;
- Supporting the Executive Dean/Campus Principal to identify, negotiate and oversee academic articulation agreements with other institutions;
- Participating in the implementation of initiatives established by the College and government authorities as they relate to the School’s academic enterprise, including quality plans, PLAR, General Education, Essential Employability Skills and the Minister’s Binding Policy Directive on Programs of Study;
- Supporting School scheduling and timetable development;
- Managing the School’s student academic advisement function;
- Determining, conducting and documenting all student-related disciplinary action when necessary in accordance with college policies;
- Promoting effective and innovative instructional methods and encouraging the appropriate professional development for all faculty through collaboration with the College’s Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL);
- Supporting the preparation and dissemination of necessary School-wide communications
- Participating in the School’s informal and formal academic appeals process and student complaints and conduct matters, as outlined by College policy;
- Contributing to the College’s overall planning and development, including priorities identified in the Business Plan andAcademic Plan, through active involvement in a variety of committees, and sub-committees; and
- Manage the Weston and Barret Centre business operations including community partnerships, budgeting, operational details, staffing and health and safety elements.

The incumbent will possess a Master’s degree in a relevant field, and at least one credential that is related to the programs offered in the School of Hospitality and Horticultural Science (PhD is an asset), along with a minimum of seven years of leadership experience in an academic setting is required. The incumbent will ideally have at least two years teaching in a college environment and will have leadership, administrative and project management skills with proven capacity to handle tremendous detail and balance multiple functions at any time. The incumbent will possess exceptional communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills, excellent time-management and organization skills, and will be competent at setting goals and achieving objectives. They will display the ability to cope with a demanding workload, to remain calm and focused while under pressure, and will be able to deal with a wide range of individuals with diverse backgrounds and needs. The incumbent will have skills in conflict resolution and be an advocate for staff, students, programs and the College as a whole.
