**Duties**:
Teach all aspects of theory and practical skills required for program completion and future employment in the industry, including small and large bakeshop operations. Participate as a member of the instructional team in the Professional Baking program. Review and revise curriculum as required and develop new materials and recipes when appropriate. Participate in and contribute to the Vancouver Island University community. Participate in all aspects of baking production and assist in the ongoing evaluation of food costing, quality control and instructional delivery.

**Required Qualifications**:
Baker Trade Qualification. Extensive experience in first-class establishments with a minimum of ten years working in a range of commercial baking operations. Provincial Instructor Diploma or equivalent (if in progress, maximum 2 years to complete).
- Ability and willingness to work as part of a team comprised of instructors, administrators and support staff.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated computer literacy required.
- A high level of energy and enthusiasm is essential.
- Demonstrated experience with new and innovative approaches and trends in baking.
- Sensitivity to the needs of a wide variety of adult students returning to education.

**Preferred Qualifications**:
Teaching experience in a post-secondary setting.
