**Job Profile**:
The successful applicant will be responsible and accountable to deliver OETIO’s heavy equipment training programs to all students while incorporating traditional values and cultural norms of the Inuit communities of Ontario and Nunavut into the curriculum and overarching educational environment. This will include encouraging and supporting the inclusion and success of all Inuit students as well as collaborating with other departments and stakeholders to improve OETIO’s broader systems, services, and curriculums in order to advance Inuit engagement and awareness for all learners.

**Job Responsibilities / Duties**:
1. To deliver training and development programs at an OETIO campus and/or at on-site locations across Ontario and Nunavut in accordance with the OETIO standards, methodologies and schedules by:

- Providing classroom and practical demonstrations and instruction using designated physical and electronic training aids, models, and full-sized equipment;
- Overseeing the execution of classroom, lab and field training activities and schedules;
- Ensuring that the Occupational Health & Safety standards are followed by all participants of the training programs;
- Using a variety of approaches, as appropriate, in order to address diverse learning needs;
- Directing student learning in a positive and supportive educational environment;
- Being available to students regularly during scheduled classroom and field hours, to discuss their progress and other issues that may influence their learning success;
- To clearly communicate all learning outcomes for the training programs and the way in which students will be evaluated against said outcomes to ensure all students understand their expectations and requirements, especially in the Inuktitut language;
- Appropriately overseeing and controlling student behavior during classroom, lab and field activities;
- Keeping up-to-date with all adult training practices, techniques and technologies and participating in continuous professional development in order to improve program delivery for all students on an ongoing basis;
- Keeping current with all course content and training materials and ensuring appropriate delivery of the most up-to-date program curriculum as released.

2. To evaluate the knowledge and skill level of participants in the OETIO training programs as measured against OETIO standards by:

- Providing mentorship, role modeling and other supports to promote success for Inuit participants in all training programs;
- Administering and correcting theory tests;
- Overseeing and evaluating students through Demonstration of Skills Testing (DOST);
- Recording the strengths and weaknesses of participants;
- Guiding any Inuit students who may be struggling and providing them with appropriate remedial assistance as needed to foster performance improvement;
- Providing students with regular coaching and feedback and preparing detailed progress reports to document student progress and performance at various stages of the program curriculum.

3. To assist with the maintenance of the OETIO training programs as overseen by the Curriculum Development Department by:

- Evaluating the effectiveness of all training materials, classroom/lab equipment and facilities and providing feedback on any improvements that could be made to foster improved inclusivity for Inuit students;
- Maintaining an up-to-date inventory of training aids and materials, especially in relation to the translated Inuktitut inventory;
- Recommending improvements or changes to the materials, structure or schedules to better foster Inuit student success and engagement;
- Assisting the Curriculum Development Department in drafting training materials that are culturally sensitive to the Inuit student community and that are available in the Inuktitut language;
- Regularly reviewing all training programs and reporting any deficiencies in the training materials, equipment or facilities based on Inuit student experience and evolving community feedback.

4. To assist with the development of new OETIO training programs as overseen by the Curriculum Development Department by:

- Promoting and supporting traditional Inuit cultural teachings and practices to staff, community members and families;
- Keeping up-to-date with changing construction and mining industry requirements;
- Recommending new training programs that may be beneficial in relation to OETIO’s Inuit strategy advancement;
- Evaluating the effectiveness of the materials, methodologies and schedule during the piloting of the course and providing the unique perspective of how new courses will be received and interpreted through the lens of an Inuit learner;

5. To perform other related duties as may be assigned by the Director of Training, including but not limited to:

- Providing assistance to the Director of Indigenous Affairs and Marketing as needed;
