Math Instructor/tutor

**Responsibilities**:

- Positive attitude, enjoys teaching/mentoring, and can adapt to student's learning needs
- We provide detailed training in the Mathnasium method, so you can teach students effectively and help them develop a thorough mastery of math
- Greet students, assign work/set goals for their session and monitor session progress to ensure understanding
- Teach students one-on-one, and provide help with our practice material and homework; ratio is 1 instructor to 3 students maximum
- Work with other instructors to make sure students are staying on task and engaged in the material
- Help/encourage participation in fun event days each week
- Help in the updating of student learning plans/binders

**Job Requirements**:

- Need to be available for at least 2 shifts per week, preferably 3-5. Shifts are Monday to Friday from either 3:30-7:30pm or 4:45 - 8:45pm and Saturdays 9:45am-1:45pm.
- Able to teach/tutor math for grades 2-10, and have at least 1 year of math tutoring and/or teaching experience. Ability to teach grade 11-12 functions, data and calculus is an asset.
- Preferred applicants are at least in 3rd or 4th year university
- Career goals in teaching or math related field is an asset
- Someone who can be under our employ for 1 school year or more is an asset
- Complete a vulnerable sector/criminal record background check

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 8 - 24 per week

Flexible language requirement:

- French not required

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
