**Position Overview**:An Arborist Crew Leader is a skilled professional responsible for supervising and leading a team of tree service workers. The Arborist Crew Leader ensures that assigned projects are completed efficiently, safely, and to high-quality standards. They play a crucial role in coordinating team activities, communicating with management, and fostering a positive work environment.
**Responsibilities**:
1. _Team Supervision:_
- Lead, direct, and motivate a team of tree service workers, ensuring they understand their tasks and responsibilities.
- Assign tasks for Lead Hand to delegate to team members based on their skills, experience, and capabilities.
- Provide guidance, coaching, and mentoring to team members to enhance their performance and skills.
2. _Project Coordination:_
- Coordinate and manage daily work activities to meet project schedules and goals.
- Ensure that work is executed according to project plans, specifications, and quality standards.
- Collaborate with project managers and supervisors to communicate progress, issues, and resource needs.
3. _Quality and Efficiency:_
- Monitor work quality and productivity to ensure that tasks are completed accurately and efficiently.
- Identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to enhance the crew's overall performance.
4. _Safety and Compliance:_
- Enforce safety protocols, regulations, and company policies to prevent accidents and promote a safe working environment.
- Conduct regular safety meetings, briefings, and training sessions for the crew members.
- Address any safety concerns or violations promptly and take corrective actions as needed.
5. _Communication:_
- Maintain clear and open communication with team members, management, and other stakeholders.
- Relay project details, updates, and instructions effectively to ensure everyone is on the same page.
6. _Resource Management:_
- Manage and allocate resources such as manpower, equipment, and materials effectively.
- Monitor inventory levels and request additional supplies as necessary to prevent shortages.
7. _Problem Solving:_
- Identify challenges or obstacles that may arise during projects and develop solutions to overcome them.
- Make informed decisions quickly to keep projects on track and address unexpected issues.
8. _Documentation:_
- Maintain accurate records of daily work activities, including hours worked, tasks completed, and any issues encountered.
- Complete required paperwork, reports, and documentation in a timely manner.
**Qualifications**:
- Highschool diploma or equivalent; arboriculture or horticulture certification is a plus.
- Proven experience (3+ years) in urban forestry; background in horticulture, plant science, conservation, ecology, or a related field considered an asset.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a diverse crew.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey instructions and project updates.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting work orders, technical documents, etc.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and practices, with a commitment to creating a safe work environment.
- Problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to addressing challenges on the job site.
- Ability to work collaboratively with superiors, clients, and other stakeholders.
- Physical stamina and the ability to perform manual labor in varying weather conditions.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

- Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy objects and equipment.
- Comfortable working outdoors and in various weather conditions.
