**SCOPE**
Reporting to the Department Administrator and functionally to the Graduate Program Director, MFA Program, the incumbent will perform the listed job responsibilities principally within the Painting & Drawing Studios and the MFA Graduate Program, Studio Arts.

**PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Monitor and administer all Painting & Drawing program studios along with all relevant studio equipment and supplies.
- Monitor and administer all MFA program studios, project rooms and galleries along with all relevant studio equipment and supplies.
- Ensure that the studios, shops, storage and prop areas are clean and in proper operating condition.
- Direct the proper use of studio equipment and supplies; assist students, staff and faculty with all technical issues (i.e. those related to materials and methods in contemporary painting and drawing practice).
- Direct the proper use of carpentry tools as they pertain to framing and the building of supports and maintain the material/tool reserves associated with these functions.
- Coordinate all faculty and student needs and respond to their respective queries with regards to the functioning of the studios.
- Ensure, implement and maintain the Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS), update all Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and label all toxic materials.
- Manage hazardous material use in studios and workshops; ensure chemical inventory compliance requirements by monitoring databases.
- Instruct students, staff, and faculty in the operation of equipment and ensure adherence to safety regulations and proper studio practices.
- Carry out minor repairs and supervise capital and other major renovations projects within the studios.
- Process and monitor all approved capital and operating budget transactions, (including fees), that relate to studio equipment and supply needs. Oversee and produce capital and operating budget requests and reports.
- Coordinate and contact the appropriate personnel within Maintenance Operations, Security, Cleaning Services, Health & Safety, Fire Safety and other Maintenance Service Units in order to communicate user requests. Submit Work Order repairs and attempt to evaluate and resolve such facilities’ problems.
- Establish vendor contacts, research pricing of new products and equipment.
- May perform other duties as required by the supervisor.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Diploma of Collegial Studies (3 year technical program) or equivalent and four years of relevant experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline and two years of associated work experience.
- Sufficient experience with carpentry, woodworking, and joinery to supervise studio facilities.
- Working knowledge of laboratory health and safety regulations and Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS).
- Very good knowledge (Level 5) of spoken and written English in order to communicate with faculty, staff, and students; basic knowledge (Level 3) of spoken French.
- Good knowledge (Intermediate level) of Word (to create and update documents) and of Excel (to create, maintain and update spreadsheets and databases).
- Excellent organization and interpersonal skills.
- Availability and ability to, when required, work outside normal working hours.
- Knowledge of Adobe creative suite and Microsoft office 365 is an asset.
- Ability to effectively communicate via MS teams, Zoom etc.is an asset.
- Knowledge of UNITY, Concur, and Ariba for budget monitoring, Web Requisitioning, P-Card systems for purchasing/reconciliation purposes, and expense claim submissions; Maximo for Facilities Management Work Order processing and a working/educational knowledge within a studio arts production environment will be considered important assets.
- Will require use of respiratory protection and enrollment in the University’s Respiratory Protection Program
