Classroom Assistant

Duties:

- Assist the lead teacher in implementing curriculum development activities for children with special needs, including those with autism.
- Provide support and assistance to children in the classroom, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Help with toddler care, including diapering, feeding, and naptime routines.
- Assist in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment for preschool-aged children.
- Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive behavior and social skills.
- Support the lead teacher in organizing and facilitating educational activities and playtime.
- Collaborate with the lead teacher and other classroom assistants to ensure smooth operation of the classroom.

**Experience**:

- Previous experience working with children with special needs, particularly those on the autism spectrum, is preferred.
- Familiarity with curriculum development for preschool-aged children is a plus.
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques and strategies is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children.

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Weston, ON M5V 1X2: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

**Language**:

- English and French (required)

Licence/Certification:

- ECE or Montessori certified (preferred)
