We are looking for a proactive and flexible self-starter to join our team as a Litigation Paralegal

Minimum Requirements:
- Eight years of related professional experience in a law firm or corporate legal department, with litigation experience- Strong knowledge of litigation documentation and processes- High School or Legal Assistant Diploma- Advanced knowledge of and high proficiency with digital tools, particularly Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, OneDrive, Teams, Word, PowerPoint);- A high regard for collaboration, internal and external relationship building and strong communication skills, to work cross-functionally to carry out accountabilities, recommend solutions and implement continuous improvement opportunities- Demonstrated proactive, enthusiastic, and excellent time management skills, with the ability to retrieve information and make decisions quickly- A good understanding of administrative policies and procedures and general business operations.

**Responsibilities**:
- Collaborate with D&IT and other internal parties as needed to implement legal holds- Gather documents from other business units and functions relative to lawsuits, investigations and regulatory proceedings- Organize and review documents for relevance and privilege- Prepare routine pleadings- Gather and organize answers to undertakings- Help prepare for discoveries, trials and hearings- Liaise with external counsel and insurers- Assist with other elements of the litigation process, as required- Conduct legal research- Assist with management of budgets and invoices and preparation of related reports- Prepare reports as required, e.g. litigation and stewardship for Suncor’s joint venture operations- Maintain a litigation diary of deadlines and upcoming steps- Assist with effecting settlements- Maintain excellent relationships internally and externally, and work collaboratively with relevant stakeholders, ensuring timely communication to lawyers of matters of a pressing nature.

Location and Other Key Details:
- You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 - 6th Ave S.W.- Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday- This is a temporary position for a period of 12 months- Our business professional roles follow internal compensation guidelines, and the pay band will generally be based years of experience and scope of work- Depending on the nature of the role, we have implemented a Hybrid Work Model to provide our employees flexibility.
