Quality Control Officer

**Position Summary**:
Every department at A&H Steel Ltd. is committed to ensuring that the final product that we fabricate and place exceeds the quality expectations of our customers and the industry. The Quality Control Officers make sure completed work and/or work in progress meets the requirements of the plans, specifications, and applicable standards. This includes monitoring and reviewing job-specific manuals, monitoring, and updating the Q-HOC/NCR database, investigating Q-HOCs and reporting on trends and statistics.

**Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities**:

- Responsibility Area #1 - Quality_
- Act as the quality champion for A&H Steel Vancouver
- Interpret and review shop drawings
- Responsible for the implementation and upkeep of the Quality System for both shop and field.
- Responsible for the composition and upkeep of all Quality Manuals.
- Input Q-HOCS and NCRs into database, complete root cause investigations for each Q-HOC raised, and implement controls to prevent reoccurrence.
- Work with senior managers to identify approaches and methods to improve overall quality.
- Responsibility Area #2 - Health and Safety_
- Ensure all staff adhere to A&H Steel’s Health, Safety and Environment practices and procedures.
- Ensure a Health and Safety moment is included at all department meetings.
- Responsibility Area #3 - Communication and Feedback_
- Maintain constant communication with all departments as to their Quality program needs.
- Responsibility Area #4 - Values and Purpose_
- Focus on developing self and others through practicing living the company values every day.
- Participate in continuous trainings, coaching, and discussions about the values as requested or needed.
- Participate in helping A&H facilitate its purpose.

**Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities**:

- **Leadership **- to work closely with staff members within the company, ensuring they are maintaining the level of Quality required.
- **Communication **- to work in a collaborative environment that requires coordination with other departments and negotiation with vendors.
- **Computer skills **- to navigate Q-Hoc / NCR database and produce jobsite Quality binders when necessary.
- **Multi-tasking **- to manage multiple duties and responsibilities at once.
- **Organization **- to monitor all quality paperwork return it for proper filing.
- **Detail-oriented **- to ensure all reports and documents are completed correctly and as required.

**Education and Experience**:

- Note: A combination of education and experience outside of the standards below may also be considered._
- Education_
- Post Secondary education in the field of Engeneering
- Professional Designation_
- ISO Certification considered an asset
- Minimum Experience_

1 - 3 Years 3 - 5 Years 5 - 7 Years 7 - 10 Years 10+ Years
- Type of Experience Required: _
- Experience in the placing of reinforcing steel in commercial and industrial construction an asset
- Basic computer skills
- Knowledge of Quality systems
- Experience in dealing with contractors and engineers on construction sites.

**Salary**: $75,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
