**The Opportunity - Adhesives Technician**

Reporting to the Research & Innovation Manager (or designate), the Adhesives Technician will focus on assisting the Research and Innovation (R&D) team with the manufacture and testing of innovative water-based bio-based products for the CASE Industries (Coatings, Adhesives, Sealants and Elastomers).

**Responsibilities**
- To assist the R&I team with the manufacturing and testing of new products (e.g. adhesives) in the laboratory and screening of new raw materials. You may not have the knowledge and experience when you start but you will be able to learn it over time.
- Ability to independently manufacture and test particle board and plywood panels, including mixing raw materials, forming and pressing the panels, cutting panels using different machines.
- Cutting and handling of particle board and plywood panels, organize and label test samples.
- Physical testing on wood products according to ASTM and internal standards (internal bond, static bending, and water absorption tests among others (training provided))
- Testing of new raw materials e.g., resins, polymers etc.
- Recording test results in a clear and concise manner using internal methods, analysis if required.
- General maintenance and organization of lab environment as required.

**Qualifications, Experience and Skills**
- Experience with using hand tools and equipment such as the table saw, panel saw, and CNC machines
- Experience with equipment like hot presses for processing and Instron for testing thickness swell ratios, IB, MOE and MOR would be highly advantageous.
- Any experience in working with and testing adhesives would be advantageous.
- Some knowledge of adhesive raw materials, lab raw materials, and working in a laboratory would be advantageous.
- Good communication skills - oral and written.
- Friendly individual that enjoys interaction with others.
- Ability to effectively multitask and manage projects.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment to achieve goals.
- Compliance with laboratory Health, Safety and Environmental rules and regulations.
- Be able to use Microsoft Word and Excel.
