**About the Opportunity**:
Reporting to the Manager of Assistive Technology, and under the direction of Certified Clinician or Registered Technician, the Prosthetics technical intern participates as a learner member of the clinical health team providing orthotic and/or prosthetic care to both inpatients and outpatients, as well as learning to support the evaluation, treatment planning, individualized design, custom fabrication, implementation and maintenance of prostheses and orthoses to enhance patient mobility and/or physical function. Learners are expected to work collaboratively with the inter-professional health care team and others care and to assist the patient in achieving their prosthetic or orthotic goals.

**About You**:
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

- Two year diploma from an OPC approved Prosthetic/Orthotic Technician or Clinical Program; equivalent practical experience may be considered.
- Applicants are immediately required to register with OPC for residency/internship as appropriate
- Experience working with patients with physical and cognitive impairments
- Possess excellent interpersonal skills and have organizational skills to complete assigned work and manage changing caseloads with support
- High level of manual dexterity, strong problem solving abilities, computer skills
- Understanding of privacy and confidentiality requirements and understanding of infection control procedures
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
- Occasional travel with the supervising technician/clinician to other NSH sites within the province of Nova Scotia may be required.
- Successful external applicants are required to provide a criminal record check (including Vulnerable Sector Search) to People Services before starting employment and assume any associated costs as a condition of employment

**Hours**:

- Long assignment, Full-time position; 75 hours bi-weekly.
- 2-year assignment
