Reporting to the Superintendent, Operations, your responsibilities as a Railway Conductor include but are not limited to:

- Communicate effectively with our train crew and other relevant parties to ensure smooth operations and timely delivery;
- Observe hand and radio signals in the yard in accordance with railroad rules and regulations;
- Responsible for the overall movement of the train and railcars while switching, moving between yards, or traveling to customer facilities or interchanges;
- Perform tasks such as coupling and uncoupling railcars, operating brakes and track switches, and ensuring proper securement of cargo or railcars;
- Monitor and address any potential safety hazards or operational issues during train movements;
- Uphold company policies and industry regulations to ensure compliance with safety standards and operational protocols;
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions, and walk extended distances over uneven terrain and;
- Other duties as assigned.

**What you need to be successful as a Railway Conductor with SRY**:

- Possess minimum grade 12 diploma or equivalent GED;
- Hold a valid BC driver’s license, mínimal Class 5;
- Have availability and willingness to work any shift (early morning, day, or overnight graveyard), 24 hours a day, 7 days a week including holidays;
- Be comfortable working with large and moving equipment like railcars;
- Able to work in an industrial environment;
- Strong commitment to safety and compliance with safety procedures/guidelines at all times;
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment;
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make quick decisions under pressure; and
- Physically capable of performing duties that may include heavy lifting, climbing, and working outdoors in various weather conditions.
